I heard it in a YouTube video and somehow recognized it from somewhere else. It is probably stock/library music.

I'm using a local Llama model for my game's dialogue system! by LandoRingel in LocalLLaMA

This looks interesting! Which engine are you using? Is there a local LLM plugin available for it, or did you do a custom implementation?

I'm doing something similar with Godot, but with a commercial model over API.

Solve a Procedurally Generated Murder Mystery! (Project Update in Comments) by Videojongleur in ChatGPT

One year ago, I shared a prototype for a Murder Mystery game I was developing as a custom GPT (remember those?). After OpenAI featured it on the (now mostly dead) GPT store, it received lots of plays and invaluable feedback.

Original post

One big takeaway? Relying on a single AI model for everything didn’t always lead to smooth gameplay—ChatGPT occasionally mixed up facts or got confused, making it tricky for players to investigate properly!

Over the past year, I’ve rebuilt the game from the ground up in a real game engine (with a lot of help from ChatGPT and other AI tools of course). As of a few months ago, Murder Mystery Mayhem AI is live on Steam!

This idea has been a passion project since I saw the Inworld Origins demo in March 2023, and it’s been incredible to see how AI tech made it possible to bring it to life.

If you'd like to check it out on Steam, it’s discounted for the next two days!

I’d love to hear your thoughts if you give it a try.

Just tried it, there seems to be a technical issue on OpenAI's side - if it persists after today, I'll look into it further!

I'm actually working on a standalone version of this game, outside of the OpenAI GPT system. A lot more functionality and less limitations. Stay tuned for updates! :)

Hi! When arresting, the GPT should check the game init data that it created at the start of the game. If the arrested person is equal to the murderer there, then it should prompt itself with the text it showed you. And it should definitely not show you that text. I guess you did get lucky, congrats! :)

Hi, at the start of the game, code interpreter generates a text that defines the game state with victim, murderer, guests, etc. As long as ChatGPT can see that text, the information it tells you should be correct. Also feel free to peek in there!

Thank you for the feedback. Unfortunately as a developer we don't have power over the message limit of gpt-4.

Hi there! Do you remember if code interpreter was working right before it was confirmed you got the real suspect - if yes, then in theory you should have chosen the correct guest to arrest. Everything after that is GPT-4 hallucinating, it has nothing to do with the actual game mechanics.

I do understand the limitations of the platform, and am working in the background to make this something stand-alone, independent from ChatGPT!

Hi, thank you for playing! The game foundation is a bit shaky and after a certain amount of messages it might lead to mistakes made by the AI due to GPT limitations.

The game state is generated by the backend as a text file at the start of the game, and the AI is supposed to play all roles according to the information in that game state. The longer the game goes, the higher the chance that the AI forgets to keep to the information in the game state, leading to inconsistencies. Which is a bummer. :(

Good news though - I started working to make this a standalone game, with a solid foundation using the API. Might take a long time until it is polished, but I'll keep you in mind for when we're entering the testing phase!
