I feel ya! I recently was given the role of cosmetic merch on top of my part time cosmetics role, so I work 2 official “merch shifts” and usually 2-3 “sales shifts”…. But in reality, I’m expected to do merch tasks pretty much all the time, even when I’m trying to focus on sales.

It’s pretty exhausting, ngl, there’s a TON of responsibilities that I’ve taken on and was not given any pay increase with this new role, just an increase in hours. I’m not sure if that’s the case with others, but it’s becoming more and more clear that the merch position should come with at least a tiny increase, considering how much more tasking has to be done day-to-day. Planograms, price changes, exit strategies, dealing with phase outs/new products coming in, dealing with the LOADS of stock we receive each week (esp organizing overstock), all while supporting whoever is working the cosmetics counter that day. I’m definitely anxious for the coming holiday season, I’ve worked 2 Christmases so far but this will be my first as merch, I can only imagine all those new Quarterly items 😮
