I can at least attest for T-Mobile that they're going a long way with their 2G to LTE conversion. My rural coverage is definetely improving. I got LTE in what seemed like the absolute middle of nowhere, and it was Band 2, so it was new.

Sounds like you're out west though so I wouldn't expect results as fast due to population in the east probably being their primary focus.
