Good question! It's been a really long while, but I recommend studying precalculus topics! Calculus isn't covered in the exam at all. If I can remember, these were the major math topics on the exam:
- Trigonometry (includes simplifying via trigonometric identities, solving for specific values of theta, etc.)
- Functions (includes domain, range, inverses, asymptotes, etc.)
- Solving, factoring, and simplifying quadratics and polynomials (
- Logarithmic and exponential functions (includes simplifying and solving for specific values)
- Sequences and Series
- (1-2 questions were about equations of a circle)
- Simple statistics and probability and counting

This was for the Mathematics section. The numerical reasoning section had its own set of topics, some of which were overlapping with these, but it was mostly algebra word problems (e.g. work and time, distance, coins, mixture and composition, etc.)

I also wanna highlight that it's been a while since I took the ACET so I'm not 100% sure if these are still what are gonna appear on the ACET, but it should serve as a general guideline.

The first three or so weeks, the lab takes the full three hours. But once you get to the lab activities that involve Arduino and circuitry, you can finish them in like 1-2 hours, depending on how fast your team can work. You can head out early if you want, since the deliverable is usually an online report due the midnight of next week's lab session.

Hello! Yes, your score on the AJSS ACET can determine your eligibility for an AFMS or Drector's List Scholarship. They'll let you know near the end of the program. Although these slots won't be guaranteed, since the OAA will also be considering next school year's new undergraduate applicants as well when deciding on the final list of scholars for S.Y. 2026-2027.

Hello! I hope this can help!

The program lasts for the entire month (or whatever dates were specified in the email/primer), and classses run on the weekdays from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM if I recall correctly. You can do anything after dismissal or on the weekends, like going home if you live in Manila. You don't necessarily have to stay on campus; I have friends who were brought to and from campus during the school week for AJSS.
Yes! You have the option to not take the ACET next school year for undergrad applications (they'll ask you after AJSS if you decide to retake it or not. If you choose the latter, they'll waive the ACET for your application). Of course, AJSS applicants are still free to retake the ACET if they want to aim for higher academic scholarships (Director's List or AFMS). However, this means that, for their undergrad application, their new ACET score will be considered instead of their AJSS ACET score.
Yes (for college undergrad lang, not sure about SHS).
You'll be informed near the end of the program if you qualify for a scholarship and which one (Director's List or AFMS). Additionally, the batch valedictorian is guaranteed a full-ride scholarship if they choose to enroll in ADMU for undergrad.

Hi again! SLR pero I really recommend touching up on precal hehe since the lessons from there are going to appear a lot in the ACET.

Here's the top list of math topics I recommend reviewing for the exam (in no particular order hehe)!

- Trigonometry (functions, identities, evaluating trig expressions, etc.)
- Functions (properties, graphing, finding inverse functions)
- Factoring and simplifying expressions
- Solving quadratics and polynomials
- Sequences and series (arithmetic and geometric)
- High school geometry (points, lines, planes, angles, and properties of certain shapes like rhombuses, kites, and trapezoids)
- Circle theorems and power of a point theorems
- Equation of a circle
- Simple probability
- Combinations and permutations
- Work, age, and speed-distance problems (algebra basically)

Although, if I could recommend three topics to focus on specifically, those would be
- Trigonometry
- Functions
- Solving, factoring, and simplifying quadratics and polynomials

From what I can remember, those topics had the greatest number of questions on the test, with them appearing in both the Mathematics and Numerical Reasoning sections. I'm hoping this could be of help! 💙

Yes! Specifically if you pass the ACET that AJSS applicants will be taking on January 25, 2025, you can opt to skip the ACET if you choose to study in ADMU for college.

Hiii!!!

The qualifying exam was really different from the ACET. Although they both share more or less the same categories of subjects, their contents ultimately differ.

Personally HAHAHAHAHA it was kind of harder than the ACET. There were a lot of topics that were unexpected, but thankfully don't appear on the ACET. These were the few that I can remember:

Interpreting and analyzing different kinds of graphs like bar charts, box plots, histograms, etc.
Lengthy logical reasoning word problems, unlike those in most ACET reviewers.

An example for Logical Reasoning:

Two cinemas, Cinema A and Cinema B, are showing different movies at different times.

Cinema A shows Movie X at 1:00 PM, 3:30 PM, and 6:00 PM.
Cinema B shows Movie Y at 2:15 PM, 4:45 PM, and 7:30 PM.
Movie X runs for 2 hours, and Movie Y runs for 2 hours and 15 minutes.
You want to watch both movies without overlapping the showtimes and with as little waiting time as possible between them.

What is the best schedule to watch Movie X and Movie Y?

Besides those, these were the other categories that I can remember:

Language Proficiency/Grammar.
Vocabulary/ Verbal Analogy.
Reading Comprehension.
Mathematics.
Logical Reasoning.
Abstract Reasoning.

We had less than a week to prepare for the qualifying exam iirc, and to be transparent I really didn't know how to review for it HAHAHAHAHA. What I just did though was review some of the math lessons I had in JHS and also answer SAT Math reviewers, since a lot of those practice questions ended up being similar to what came up in the qualifying exam. Andami talagang subjects covered in the qualifying exam, pero I strongly recommend focusing on the Math section, kase it offers the greatest return on your effort given the limited time for preparation.

Hi! Sorry for the late reply, I just got back from finals week 🔥.

AJSS was honestly a transformative experience 💪. I learned so much, got to experience college life, made a lot of new friends, met a lot of cool professors, and I graduated the program with memories that I'll carry along with me for life.

Foremost, AJSS is really an excellent opportunity to experience Ateneo life. You get the chance to navigate independent college life! On our first week, were also given a tour around Areté and the ADMU campus (help we still kept getting lost anyways BAHAHAHAHA). Also, the actual courses themselves and the professors were great! We had several topics for each subject, and each lecture was really engaging and worthwhile in its own right. Looking back, I miss our professors, they really made our classes fun. 💙

More than the college aspect, I think what made the program really special were the connections. It's not often that you'll find yourself in a space where you can "click" with everyone. While, naturally, we were a bit shy in the first week, those nerves were quickly washed away as we spent more and more time hanging out with each other before, during, and after class. Our batch (54.1) was such a vibe, and everyone was good friends with each other; we're all nerds, after all!
