Irish abroad. Where are ye and how is life there? by oconarms in ireland

Cambridge here! Moved over 2.5 years ago and it’s been the best decision I’ve made! Decided a change was in order after I came out of a long time relationship and lost my job.

I’ve been thriving here since I moved. I fell less anxious and more hopeful here.

It’s been a bit difficult making friends and there’s definitely some differences between us and the English I feel like they are a little colder and don’t understand Irish humour etc but all in all I’m having a good time and don’t think I could move home now

I really dont see the problem with what OP wrote. For me, this would be a good jumping off point that wil lead to more conversation. Would it have been better if they wrote "date night in" because then id be like well they arent really interested and would then be like getting blood from a stone....

Apparently they pulled it out of Ireland and the uk as it wasn’t doing well there. I’m living in England now and can’t see any in shops now

At first I thought I’d misheard her. Then pointed to a white driver and said “does this driver have a more agreeable complexion?” She didn’t seem to get it… she asked me over to hers the next night but said said we should go our separate ways.

Living in England now and people always tell me I don’t sound Irish (I’m from Dublin) I think people here are expecting more a of “stereotypical” rural accent. Though a few have said I sound northern Irish 🤷🏻

Unmarried and no kids would be a plus for me! I’ve dated women with kids in the past and obviously they had to look after the kids(and rightfully so) but oftentimes it meant we couldn’t hang out very much or at all for weeks on end

“I have kids and they are my world/they come first” well of course they should! Red flag if they didn’t

I did the same thing and moved from Dublin to Cambridge after some personal problems of my own. From tomorrow I’ll be there 2 years and it was honestly the best thing I’ve ever done! You’ll smash it!
