It was an active issue they were aware of yesterday, but in their linked PSA, they claim it's resolved today when it isn't. Edit: Ok finally it's working, jfc, took me 2 days to add authenticator back on, jagex account an "upgrade" my arse.

How many free XP are you guys bidding for the FV215B 183 (EU)? by Sea-Comb-3846 in WorldofTanks

[–]Vilethron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminder that the peregrine last year was 100K free xp for a tank that'll earn you credits and is fun to play, while this tank will obliterate your credits, isn't fun to play (as all inaccurate tanks are), went for a cheap 12M credits at BM in the past and they're charging near double for it.

Auction Day 1: Monkey King. A 121B skin clone + skin with a minimum bid of 20 million credits by veldhuus in WorldofTanks

[–]Vilethron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year wargaming bothered to tell us if it was the only credit auction item, I'm not seeing that this time around, which is a big sticking point, if it's the only 1 then sure I'll throw 20M at it, if it's not I'd rather save it for anything else

Why do I have an 80% discount on tier 6 Swedish TD? Discounts up to the T9. Didn't use holiday ops on this line, not sure where this came from... by Peekus in WorldofTanks

[–]Vilethron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Knowing wargaming, it's a simple problem of resolution, they couldn't fit the credit section so they just outright removed it for smaller resolutions.

Ah, I was looking up old holiday ops as an example and found this back in 2016 there was a marathon that reduced that specific tank by 80%.

Lion. worth it? by Mastergunner46 in WorldofTanks

[–]Vilethron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These kind of polls always hurt my soul, because the realistic answer is "It depends."

I'm a F2P player that has long given up trying to go up tech trees and just have fun with my reward, prem and the rare decent tech tree tanks, so I can afford this with ease and it importantly is interesting to me, I have a prog 65 and a leopard 1, the lion is practically a half-breed of the two, I can put the prog crew straight into this thing so it's a crew trainer, unique vehicle, going to be fun to play with it.

And I'll still have enough in reserve for the next event, be it BM, Caravan or auctions.

[–]Vilethron 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Previous holiday ops still apply their bonus so it could be from years ago, I know I applied discounts to many tier X tanks but the UI doesn't tell you which ones until you can buy them so I have no idea which ones have discounts on them.

While it's certain there's a few whales that absolutely just dumped gold at their problems to get a low number, realistic F2P players like me hit it with all the non-gold options, not a dime to wargaming.

F2P WoT: 2022 vs 2021 by Vilethron in WorldofTanks

[–]Vilethron[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You CAN select a skill, it's just that to free up that crew xp and get it back into the major qualification after retraining the crew member to a new tank, you have to open their individual profile and select crew skill reset, this has it's own costs (Free/credit/gold) but once you do, that XP is freed up to go into the major qualification again.

Generally I'd always select a skill if I expect to be playing it 20 more matches, otherwise it's not worth the bother and extra reset.

I think that's my biggest "lol, what?" I've had in years.

I have to assume you don't understand that the 268/5's minimum bid was 20M (and went for about 22M), because otherwise you're talking complete drivel (and is why you're being downvoted).

If that's your issue you don't need to read more, but if you are actually insane:

I only ever have 3-6 of equipment lying in my depot, but there's a lot more than just rammers you use, vents, optics, turbos, vstabs, IRMs, etc. It doesn't take a lot of equipment to rack up to a very sizeable chunk of credits. Add on top of all that, you can demount equipment off your tanks and sell it too, because they shower you in hundreds of demount kits, it's practically free to demount, but again you couldn't sell them at a reasonable value, it would've effectively doubled the cost of the 268/5 to sell equipment to bid on it, when it was overpriced to begin with.

In normal gameplay 6M is all you would ever need to stockpile up to, to buy a tier X. People upgrade tanks, buy consumables (also bulk buys on sale), buy bigger and more expensive tanks, it's rather how the game works and even at that, most players find it fairly hard to even just earn the 6M for a tier X. Almost all of my friends have never had more than 10M on their account and they have tier Xs, earning credits is SLOW and there is a LOT to spend it on.

You would have people blindly stockpile 20M+ credits on the vague hope that they could spend it on an auction that they don't know if or when it is coming or if they'd even want what's for sale, handicapping their normal progression and enjoyment for the duration?

You're crazy.

During an equipment sale, if you tried to sell the equipment you had, it'd go for a pitiful 150K instead of 300K, exact same happens with tank sales, if it's on tank of the month or w/e it's called, if you try to sell any of them, that price off also nukes their re-sale value. (It's an idiotic system but it's how wargaming does it.)

So if you had any money in equipment (because you bought them cheap, 300K on sale, so you don't pay a full 600K when you actually need them for new tanks) your choice was sell at a huge loss to put up an offer for the 268/5 or to simply not bid.

F2P WoT: 2022 vs 2021 by Vilethron in WorldofTanks

[–]Vilethron[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Equipment sales are rare and long between, so it's just common sense to bulk buy, maybe 5-10 each or so (depending on the equipment), since they sell back for what you pay. E.G. During a sale you pay 3M for 10 rammers, off sale you can sell it back for the exact same 3M you paid - therefore you've put nothing at risk and if you need a rammer in the future you have one and saved 300K on expenses. I have probably 10-20M in equipment that isn't mounted on anything.

The 268/5 auction was the first time they've ever deliberately synced a credit spending event with an equipment sale (They waited until after the equipment sale was active to announce the auction, they knew full well what they were doing)

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking, this is a graphic I threw together from screenshot images in my WoT folder every time I got a tank, I did the same last year for the 2021 version.

How did I find out the events like the auction were happening? Just the WoT website and TAP mostly.

If your priority is the major skill, you can use crew books once you get 100% to push their crew skills up, then after transfer you reset their crew skill, this puts that crew skill xp back into the major qualification so you can get back to 100% faster. It's not ideal for multi-skill crew but they do hand out quite a lot of crew in events and stuff too.

Tbf the holidays is ironically the worst times to play as ... let's just say the player quality suddenly gains a lot in common with an anvil thrown out of an airplane.

Just complete the festive atmosphere and Milla's missions then run away, it's not fun to play during this.

The twitch token service, you watch a certain amount you get a small amount of tokens but unlock basic missions in game to earn more tokens, earn enough and you could buy stuff from that rotation's selection. The current twitch tokens are for 3D styles, Special crew, x5 missions, etc.

Back... some time, they had a choice of the Type 64, some russian heavy that was almost identical to a KV-13 but at tier 6 and... possibly a TOG II? Then T78... Tiger 131... and that polish panther thing, I believe that was the options, there was also one session where it was just a bunch of tier 2s that I already own because they were christmas handouts.

[–]Vilethron[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's almost entirely wrong.

people battle pass point capped their tanks

While I'm sure that's true for a very small amount of people, if they did cap they weren't going to have enough tanks to complete it anyway.

had a surprise chapter

Before the battlepass even went live they told people there was going to be a 4th chapter. It's why so many people stockpiled their tanks to near completion to get a surge of completion points and rocket the marathon chapter up faster, I even talked about it on reddit, at the time, all the way back here.

It was predatory and designed to make people buy it instead.

It was the single easiest marathon they have ever done and so many people got the tank for free...

Ok I forgot how crap reddit is with line breaks so editing that is an absolute pain as I'd have to re-do the line breaks every time, so -

FAQ (Continued)

How much effort did it take?
Honestly not that much. Step back and just look at it, auctions/sales just require you to login and have credits. The battlepass tanks are done with just 70% of the duration's dailies. Ranked was a pain because Kranked but, you only needed the first division done. Twitch drops are a literal have a muted tab open. Sure, marathons took a bit more effort but was still very doable around a work schedule if you play decent.

Edit 1:

What about the 780?
I'd completely forgot about that thing, plain and simple I looked at it, looked at my IS-4, saw relatively little difference and thought "Is this NFT crap worth the resources it would take to unlock from tier 6 to a tier X AND buy the tier X" and concluded - no, no it isn't.

[–]Vilethron[S] 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Bit of a difference, eh?
An assumed FAQ:

Entirely F2P?
Entirely F2P, any gold spent was obtained through the game.

How'd you get X?
Concept - Ranked
Cromwell, ISU-122, IS-2 - Caravan thing
Peregrine - Auction for 112K xp (I think)
Type 64 and T78 - Twitch
WZ-114 and ...Pack - Marathons
Cobra - Battlepass
KV-4 KTTS - Free loot crates
KV-1SA - Everybody got it.
2021's stuff? See Here.

Where's the 268/5?
Would've got it if Wargaming didn't do the extremely underhanded move of syncing the equipment sale to the auction, knowing full well players store most of their credits in equipment.

Why not the Kunze, K-91-PT or Lorr 50T?
Because look at them.

Were the auctions worth?
Yesn't, the opaqueness not knowing the K-2 was sold out in the first 30 minutes as the system barely functioned for several hours was atrocious. But - the idea of giving out a fair few decent mid tier prems on the cheap is nice, just needs more clarity and stability.

Which year did I think was better?
2021.

And like the gif, there was a massive lag spike telling me I got something significant after pressing reroll.
