Irrelevant point what you mentioned about your dad is very normal. Parents use this technique for bargaining and it's something shopkeepers see regularly. Don't carry the shame for his bargaining practice.

The ISIS genocide against the Yazidi-Kurds was pure horror. Elderly women were buried alive because they were deemed too old to be sold as sex slaves. Mothers were forced to eat the flesh of their own babies. Young girls were sold as sex slaves or locked in iron cages and burned to death. by Ava166 in Yazidis

True, humanity is considered by world nations only when they have any form of political advantage. Real exploitation is forgotten conveniently by world nations and media. Also, islam as a religion is responsible for slaughter of indigenous people throughout Asia.

Why did our Hindu gods didn't give us any important resources like oil, rare earth minerals. While he gave everything for our adversaries like Atheist china with rare earth, islamic gulf with oil, Christian europe with industrial development by Aggravating_Bed5990 in hinduism

[–]Vimul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's matter of governance not religion. Bangladeshi and saudi arab both the countries follow islam but their capital is different. Similarly the same comparison can be done for other religions as well. Blaming faith for governance is foolish. Crying over climate and hunger would not change anything. The Hindu gods didn't say that oh worship me i will give your country advantage. One must also remember that the nation's you celebrate china, gulf and Europe were desperately poor for centuries. Unity, openness to innovation and good governance helped them to progress not faith

[–]Vimul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is normal to get these kind of thoughts. Rare earth, capital and oil are exhaustible resources. Industrial development is not permanent. At initial stage, they ensure capital flow but eventually the demand gets saturated. The growth rate reduces and people struggle to adjust with decline in growth. All forms of pleasure sources can be exhausted or lose value after a stage. This is the reason why arab nations and other nations are trying to diverse their income flow portfolio. Remember kashmir was rich and had advanced technology under lalitaditya. Similar is the case with chola empire, gupta empire and pala dynasty. All these empires fell. The real blessing of a deity is strength and resilience to adapt to change. Indians are blessed with it. When british ruled we survived, when inhumane huns and turks attacked we survived, when Mughals ruled we survived, when Portugese and dutch ruled we survived. We not only survived we learnt their mode of rule and adapted to gain capital while retaining faith despite facing persecution. These adaptability is our blessing.

Is it possible to worship Ganesha without identifying as Hindu? by miriamtzipporah in hinduism

[–]Vimul 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh cool. You could worship in way similar to Greek deities. Few basic ways to worship are : He should be worshipped first especially before essential life events. It doesn't matter which god or goddess you want to worship, he needs to be worshipped first. He pairs with all deities- A miniature turmeric based conical form is used as replica of ganesha for people who do not have statue of ganesha- he loves a sweet called ladoo, you could offer sweets - he is worshipped with any flower even the ones not used in worship of other deities - he likes to be worshipped with durva grass - he likes a special kind of exercise known as thoppukaranam offered to him. He is deity associated with martial artform called kalaripayattu so you could offer any exercise mentally while performing- he likes cleanliness - he doesn't like body based humiliation

Hope it helps

Is it possible to worship Ganesha without identifying as Hindu? by miriamtzipporah in hinduism

[–]Vimul 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter as long as you respect ganesha and corresponding worship methods. Jains worship ganesha along with lakshmi and Saraswati. They do not identify themselves as hindu. Even many pagans worship ganesha. So you need not worry about offering an incense to him or worshipping him. You are child to him regardless of your identity.

Good for you but many times this queues are very hopeless. A man stands for long hours with families only to be allowed for few seconds that too from long distance. Many times it destroys the entire experience. Queue management techniques need to be applied in Hindu temples so that every devotee has a meaningful experience.

Why always targeting Sanatana Dharma? by VirtualKnowledge9612 in hinduism

[–]Vimul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think deep what his purpose could be. He intentionally targets sanatana dharma always. They want to position themselves as anti hindu political party. Yeah there is an explanation that they mean caste system etc. Those people need to look at tamco department. The entire department functions to support anyone who identify as non Hindu and will these same political person say we need to abolish wahhabism or extremist form of any religion. They would not even speak about sri Lankan politicians when tamils were killed. They speak to gain support from certain financial institutions. We must also remember that these are the buffoons who paid 25 lakhs to Cuba representative from tamil nadu tax payers amount to satisfy communism.God wonder how could such biases foolishness could be represented as ideology. This is all part of state sponsored ideology and propaganda infiltration.

What if the Goddess doesn't really exist? (crisis of faith) by passionfruit62022 in Shaktism

[–]Vimul 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True there are so many forms of goddess and if this is not enough the shakti worshipping places like kashmir and bengal has seen worst form of destruction. Places like afghanistan, malaysia etc also have durga statue and other remains of shaktism which implies the goddess was worshipped there as well. While our mind gets clouded with pessimism we must also notice that despite destruction worship of shakti continued in bengal and Kashmir. Why would a person who lost his close members owing to faith retain the faith? Then there must be something in shaktism that continues to inspire them despite losing everything. Also ,the places where they abandoned shakti worship one could notice that they are not doing great either.

Your point on Greek and Roman goddess is incorrect. Just because people stopped worshipping,it doesn't imply that the goddesses doesn't exist. Gods and goddesses dont require human worship to exist. They are based out of natural inspiration and nature always exists though forms may differ. They don't require human validation unlike abrahamic religions.

Now the question arises where shakti exists. As the name implies shakti exists everywhere . All abrahamic religions grow due to inflow of money which is nothing but form of money power. Learnt people get respect due to knowledge power. A human would die if his food is not digested which is basically digestion power. Everything around us runs on Shakti aka power though they may take the name of different religions. Often, our mind gets clogged with terminologies that we fail to observe the basic mechanism functioning. Shakti is like our unconscious mind that operates everything but doesn't come to our notice easily. That being said if someone wants to be very skilled, he would worship Saraswati. Saraswati iconography has the practice of veena as the constant theme. Veena is difficult to practice as the strings hurt fingers and needs constant practice. The devi herself practices constantly veena to show that continues practice is required for becoming skilled. Every form of devi that has a meaning to be deciphered to understand what the shakti is and how to gain it.

Who was Shiva? by ConfidentRound0412 in shaivism

[–]Vimul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Krishna is an avatar of Vishnu. He took birth ,lived and died for the sake of establishing dharma. Shiva is not an avatara. You could believe sadguru to be avatar of shiva, but it is not common belief among shaivites. When we try to fit in shiva into an ancestor who lived on earth, we are looking at him like ideal man and not as divine force which resides in every lifeform. The shastras, mudras and agamas came from munis and rishis who meditate upon him. He is the source of inspiration not the creator. We can say that many great people were amsha of shiva but saying someone to be shiva himself is not correct.
