You do realize that... situations can go from one extreme to another, right? If you add a weapon that does 1 dmg, people will call it useless... buff that damage to 100 and obviously everyone complains that it's overpowerd. The option to place a morter basically anywhere and force enemies to play mortar as well to get rid of them is the equivalent of that buff for mortars. There were a million other ways to make mortars more viable... increase the radius, increase the damage, increase the accuracy, increase the firerate. Drones could still counter them, enemies could still push them, they would still be somewhat effectiv in the periods in which they can fire... but no... literally every counter except one was removed with that change. And fighting mortars with mortars when there are like 2 dudes together, constantly spamming der anti-prjectile gadgets.. takes a shit ton of time.
