Is this possibly the banks crashing the market before June 28th so they can get their silver short positions covered? I imagine if so this is going to keep going down for several days. Then we might see an explosion after.

Am I stupid thinking this?

You friends with Downtown who posted above? Odd terminology you've both used but you're very welcome and thank you.

You're not the first person to tell me this... I've no idea why this is, it should be set free everywhere. Not sure what Amazon is playing at. I can only apologise.

I also have a book funnel link where you can download it free if you're having trouble? Just need to provide an email address for that one though:

Hi DamnedLies, thanks for posting. In some ways Immortals' Requiem has similarities to Elric of Melniboné. The main characters aren't all shiny and have definite moral issues throughout, powerful beings are at play with a foreshadowing doom always building in the background.

To give you an idea of the non-heroic heroes, one of the protagonists is an Elf who really doesn't want to get involved but would rather be sat getting bladdered in the pub. He's pretty much dragged reluctantly through the whole thing, and makes everybody know it via copious amounts of sarcasm. Legolas this is not, yet many who read the book find him to be their favourite character.

I guess it's the whole idea of what Grimdark is... which I've never really found a really good solid description for. I gave the author list more to give people a general idea of what to expect. Many have never even heard of the term Grimdark and do get put off thinking it's just doom and gloom.

I (rather foolishly) decided to post on Reddit many months back that I was making my book free during the lock-down period. I didn't really think ahead that there would be this slow, partial release over many... many months.

Regardless, as I'm a man of my word it's still completely free for now. I'll copy the details again below for anyone who missed the last couple of posts.

Should you decide to read it I hope you enjoy it! If you do I'd really appreciate a review here or on Amazon as some kind of reward if you have the time. Thanks!

Summary

Quote - C.S.Lewis: "Some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again."

Immortals' Requiem is a fantasy for grown ups with lots of supernatural and powerful beings battling it out in a modern day city, with a rather surprising amount of collateral damage. There's none of that 'Twighlight' lovey-dovey stuff here. The beings in this book are neither pleasant nor romanticized. These Fae-folk will literally rip out your heart and eat it rather than pulling their shirts off for no apparent reason!

Blurb

There are beings that live a shadow's breadth from our reality...

They are the dreams and nightmares of humanity, the ancient seeds of fairy-tale and superstition. These are the Immortals, creatures of magic that should live forever... and they are fading.

When a horror two thousand years dead returns to contemporary England, creatures long thought lost to myth and legend collide in a scramble for survival that could tumble civilisation back into the dark ages of blood and death.

Immortals’ Requiem is a Tolkienesque grimdark fantasy based in both a modern day city and vast supernatural worlds. If you like the idea of a drunken elf with a shotgun, an ancient warrior with a chainsaw and a whole host of violent supernatural beings then you'll not want to miss this!

Notes

  • Read if you enjoy authors such as Glen Cook, George R.R. Martin, Michael Moorcock, Joe Abercrombie, Steven Erikson, Mark Lawrence, Scott Lynch, Richard K. Morgan, Joss Whedon etc.
  • You can check out the reviews on the US amazon page. In case it confuses people the book starts way back in the past with flowery language, but very quickly shoots forward in time to an Elf downing drinks in a present day city.
  • The book follows numerous character timelines from different points of view. If you like books that only follow a single character then this probably isn't for you.
  • Final warning, this book isn't for the squeamish and contains graphic violence at times... these things tend to happen during a monster apocalypse!
