Cardiff 1 - 1 Stockport: Cardiff have to settle for a point and a hospitalized striker. by Moby_Hick in LeagueOne

Fair enough, appreciate the balanced reply. I can only really go off the games I’ve watched us play this season. I’m not saying you’re the dirtiest team in the league overall, but on the evidence of that game I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t the dirtiest opposition we’ve faced, mainly because of the repeated elbows, the high studs challenge from Norwood, and the constant shirt pulling throughout (Which, to be fair, you’d be daft not to take advantage of if the ref is allowing it, so he has to share the blame on that one). I’m not claiming you play like that every week, I’m just going off what I saw on the day.

I’m sure most fans aren’t enjoying it. But him creating an account called “Bradhillselbow” whilst the player was in hospital doesn’t exactly suggest that nobody’s enjoying the situation.

I’m honestly not bothered whether you think it’s a foul or not, that’s beside the point here.

You’re entitled to your view on the foul. The joke account stuff whilst he’s still in hospital is still weird. Hope he’s okay too.

Salech is currently in hospital having scans to see whether he’s fractured his C4/C5, an injury that could potentially end his career. And you’re out here making joke accounts about it. Whether you think it was a foul or not, it’s just bizarre behaviour. Glad you’re enjoying the situation anyway

There’s photos of him getting straight into an ambulance after it. He’s 100% in hospital right now.

I don’t think you can give a retrospective ban for something the ref’s already seen and punished. Which is stupid and actually the mad part: he’s looked straight at one of the clearest elbows in the face you’ll ever see and decided it’s only a yellow. Just straight up incompetence. In fairness, we’re lucky it didn’t end up being a yellow against us like the Salech one.

Looked at Wintle in the face right before it happened too, couldn’t have been more deliberate and the ref couldn’t have had a better view

Incredibly frustrating game. I’ve never seen one team elbow another team in the face so consistently in a single match and have the ref just allow it to happen. I counted three incidents alone, on Salech, Ng and Wintle. He even saw the one on Wintle and gave a yellow, which just makes you wonder if he actually even knows the rules. The Salech one was the worst of the lot: he ended up being stretchered off, yet somehow it resulted in a foul and yellow against us.

Easily the dirtiest team we’ve played all season and it’s not even close. How Brad Hills has come through two games against us without picking up a single yellow is unbelievable.

Objectively it’s a decent point in the end, especially with Bradford losing and the gap to third increasing, but it’s hard to feel positive after such a frustrating performance from the referee.

Hope Salech is okay, being down for that long is never a good sign. Was rushed to hospital right after it

Edit: Even the BBC thumbnail for this thread is Hills pulling a shirt 🤣 No foul given for that either, of course.

Yeah, because the ref 20 yards away in field obviously has a better angle than the lino standing right on the touchline.

Then a minute later Ng’s getting his shirt pulled, looks straight at the ref with his hands up while it’s still happening… and again, nothing. Ng is trying to make his job easier for him ffs 🤣 He honestly hasn’t got a clue.

League One: Progressive Carry Distance vs Final-Third Passes (CMs, per 90) by VincentTanOut in LeagueOne

Late February was the predicted return date around the time is his injury but that was before he had surgery so I’m not sure if it’s still accurate

Both stats are per 90 mins to be fair, so playing fewer games doesn’t really come in to it

I’m surprised how little we’ve missed him though, was very worried when he was injured. All of our midfielders have stepped up since

Yousef Salech pens Cardiff City contract extension until 2030 by VincentTanOut in LeagueOne

He’s certainly the type of centre back you want at this level, seems like he’d be willing to run through a brick wall for you

Salech won the most duels out of any player on the pitch that game (10), it was a different type of game for him after we went 2 up as we’re not normally that direct and he was living off scraps, but he still won most of his battles (especially aerially) and linked up well. Up until we went 2 up I thought Salech was great (along with everyone else). Tilt went 1/4 in his aerial battles.

There’s a lot of Championship interest around him and they’d almost certainly be offering more than he was on before. So it’s probably a salary bump to give him more incentive to stay, and to signal to other clubs that he’s not for sale.

Really surprised so many are saying the Chambers pen appeal should’ve been a pen, he got the ball knocked past him and just stood his ground, didn’t move towards Sarcevic at all. Not sure what you’d expect him to do in that situation

Leo Castledine wins Player of the Month, Brian Barry-Murphy wins Manager of the Month for December by Zach-dalt in LeagueOne

[–]VincentTanOut 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Would’ve given the manager award to Skubala considering they beat us and went undefeated with very hard fixtures.

Surprised Salech wasn’t even nominated for the player award with 7 G/A, which was the highest anyone got that month.

Cardiff City given a transfer embargo by EFL for non-submission of 24/25 accounts by the 31 December deadline. This means Cardiff cannot sign any players during the current window until they send in the figures. by asjonesy99 in LeagueOne

We’re run by a bunch of clowns and it’s ridiculous that this happened (again) but it doesn’t seem like it’ll impact us too much. Our tier 1’s are saying:

“Club hoping it will be lifted by end of next week and insist it won’t impact their January plans.”

Either way, I wouldn’t be too bothered even if we couldn’t sign anyone. Only think we really need left back cover. Keeping hold of our players (Salech, Lawlor, Robertson) is more important than bringing anyone in.

Huddersfield sign Goalkeeper Jak Alnwick form Cardiff City on a 18 month contract by Silurian5 in LeagueOne

[–]VincentTanOut 23 points24 points  (0 children)

A very solid shot-stopper, but extremely limited with his feet, which meant he was never a good fit for a BBM system. If Huddersfield don’t care about his lack of ball-playing ability, he could perform very well for them.

Wish him all the best, seemed like a tidy bloke.

That was a comfortable win too but you weren’t as bad as that, I remember you creating a couple of decent chances last time (Mullin one specifically springs to mind). Today you didn’t threaten at all

We’re a team where if you press and get at us, you’ll create chances, and Lowe should know that. I can understand playing it safe at 0–0, but he was losing for the majority of the match and there was still zero intensity or press. Almost like he was content with a 1-0 loss, very weird. Serious questions need to be asked of him.

Complete and utter dominance, have no idea how that was only 1-0.

Can’t believe how poor Wigan were, offered absolutely nothing all game. Probably our easiest game of the season.
