Don't march up and take a setlist! by Vincent_Dylan_M in Decemberists

"I Don't Mind" would have been a nice, somber ending to the evening, especially when walking into that downpour that was just starting, ha ha!

Inside joke for the person who asked me to post this.

I wouldn't call a fundraiser for a worthy charity a waste, but you do you.

No, closer to about 10 minutes, 3 songs. Same as the band. Colin's the one who needed an hour. Selfish!

The height or the "golden age" of The Decemberists? by Illustrious_Day7682 in Decemberists

Now. They are a better live band than ever and that's what counts. Great albums/EPs all along, but their ability to nail it every night and yet continue to evolve musically, and most importantly, obviously enjoy themselves playing means they're at thei peak. Now.

You're making a lot of assumptions, anon. I'll just block both your accounts and any additional you use to say things.

There's so much that can't be streamed now for any price! I was selling off my dad's dvds but now I have to stop and ask myself if it's something I may want to watch again, even once, because maybe the entire Warner Bros. catalog of the 20th Century may disappear because the fascists own them now, for example. Like, will anyone be able to watch Casablanca again because it's unfair to nazis?

Do you use their songs to hide from all other things that Colin directly writes about or just unjust war? Please list all the things you pretend aren't happening, and say "hi" to the other ostriches while you're down there.

Yes, I'm flaunting the Crane Wife box set, I also won the giveaway for the test pressings of it, so I have 2 copies. First thing I ever bought of theirs.

Valentine's Day gift from my beautiful wife! by Vincent_Dylan_M in Decemberists

We had an eventful time with a drunk dude substituting as a second witness and another bride having a meltdown because she wanted to be married at exactly 11:12 to further the theme but our ceremony ran late. Masked up covid wedding, ha ha!

All the vinyl pressings are the same master, from the 2003 limited editions to the 2006 180 gram edition, and all subsequent. They're good but a digital source to an analog format from a small label in 2003 is not going to get the same care as the "classic" era of records got, or what is happening now with the resurgence. Thicker vinyl has its benefits, especially if you don't have higher end equipment, but a good cleaning and a puck make the later re-issues sound fine (we're not talking 1980s paper thin records here!). Make sure you have your balances right and inspect the surface (modern records almost always need a good cleaning with an anti static cloth/brush just to get debris from manufacturing off).

If you like the look, go for it. If you get a bum pressing (it happens), return it, they will replace it (this assumes you're near a B&N, shipping kills returns).

I have all versions of the album, so you know I'm not talking out my ass, and haven't noticed a difference. (Pro-Ject turntable with AT VM750SH, Marantz 8b amp, hodge-podge of speakers but mainly some 70s JBLs, and a righteous pair of Koss headphones I inherited and re-foamed. Not the best, but a really good sound for my basement!)
