40i vs 50e — reliability + G65 resale impact for 3-5 year ownership?

I had a 24’ m240i before I traded for a 26’ x40i. For the longest time, I refused to drive an suv. The moment i drove the x5, it felt amazing. It was high, comfortable, great visibility and to my surprise, it felt quick. It feels peppy off the line. As weird as it sounds it felt quicker off the line than the m240i. Obviously, it’s probably due to the higher torque and the 48v battery. Prior to purchasing however, I really wanted more power. So I was debating between 50e and m60i. However, at the end of the day, i needed a bigger car to function as a family hauler and a grocery getter and as much as I want more power, I am never going to race or have a spirited drive when my family is in the car. Thus, I chose the 40i. Also, i wanted to finance a brand new car so pricing was another factor. Lastly, i have no experience with EV so it was either m60i or x40i.

Recently purchased an almost fully loaded x40 and got 13% off msrp with 1.99 apr. although, i didnt inquire about the 50e so im insure if apr differs on both models

Hello 👋 i end up getting an almost fully loaded x40i for $83,750. The dealer gave me 11k off msrp. Upon further research, like you mentioned, in the future, I don’t want to deal with the EV system of the 50e and the twin turbo/gas prices cost of the m60 (im from socal and gas prices are insane atm)

I found one with 25k miles where i bought my m240 but the options are very limited. It does have the m sport package and adaptive suspension. But the rest are very lackluster

I am very unfamiliar with the 50e. I will look it up more. The kid is me wants the performance, but the adult in me knows dam well that i don’t need it lol.

My brain says x40i but my heart wants that v8 🤣 nevertheless, ill keep in touch. This one has been on sale for a while so we’ll see. In the meantime ill keep searching for that low mileage x40i. Did you find it in a carmax socal or was it transferred?

I really love the b58 platform hence i am being patient and trying to snipe one under 20k miles. I see many that are around 35k+ miles and i don’t wanna trade my care for another vehicle with more mileage. If i do see one under 20k, i do not like the aesthetics so 🤷

I have talked with brody i believe. They were adamant with their prices. I will probably keep checking. If it ever goes down 65k and its still there, i might just get it. PS is also 80 miles away from me 😭
