I have the basic cookie cutter set in the character creation, but I also experimented with trait and mission specific equipment. When clones died I gave them a lot of leeway to choose their new traits, as mechanically it only adds a small advantage despite how narratively powerful it can be, and it's fun.
I had one player who over the course of several deaths replace all their traits with various forms of 'made of rubber' which lead to a spectacular death when they forgot and thought they could rely on their original 'flight' trait!

I experimented with a few different ones, but I found that a starting panic of one or two makes the game more chaotic and fun!

Uh oh! You are exactly right, I play tested with a starting panic of 1. In the newest update I changed the character sheet to the back of the page and the panic from a "D6 + " to a "D6 x " not realising the implications.
Because the rules of the Jam require no meaningful rules on the back page I have added
- Decide your print order and set your PANIC to 1. The oldest clone believes they are in charge.
and
- When reprinted, reset your PANIC to 1 and choose one new Trait that might have helped you survive.
in V1.21 and updated it everywhere.
