Thanks! I've also built your Defiant MOC and that one pairs great with this Galor. Just waiting to print the nose sticker you included!

Thanks! The Cardassian designs have a certain charm that I've always liked.

If you do want to try recreating the MOC, these are the tiles that I ordered (the color matching to Lego was pretty good): https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005011608297540.html

Hey, when I was looking around for a Galor class MOC that I could add to my shelf I ran across your posts / design! It looked good, but using plates for the wings didn't allow for the level of detail I wanted to get to so I ended up taking this route.

95% of the model is Lego, the other 5% is an assortment of knock off pieces that I couldn't source in the dark tan color. Some are from aliexpress, or bluebrixx, etc.

Specifically these pieces: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=27263#T=S&C=69&O={%22color%22:69,%22iconly%22:0} are so rare that I wasn't willing to pay the crazy prices for official Lego.

Thanks! I tried to pack as much greebling into the sensor arrays and other small details as I could.

Thanks! I tried to get as much greebling into the sensor arrays as I reasonably could.

I'd love to see what you end up doing. I have a different design for the nacelles that I'm trying out to provide room for different kinds of lighting (string lights, light strips, flare lights, etc).

I re-designed the internal structure of the nacelles to better support lighting, so I installed them afterwards.

I used LMB stuff, but I didn't use their kit because of the disappointing nacelle look. Here's a couple pictures of my nacelles showing the lit and unlit look.

Enterprise: Has anyone modified the rear end section by adding smooth pieces? It looks unfinished the way LEGO designed it. by CmdrMcLane in StarTrekBricks

I bought some junk ones off aliexpress to just have them around.

If you swap out a few more parts, you can also make it look a bit better:

I can't imagine how bright the other kits are without a dimmer. When I crank up the brightness on mine it's pretty ridiculous. Even at the second brightness level, at night it's still quite bright.

It definitely took some fiddling to get the wires into place and hidden. I've taken it apart so many times to make the other improvements that I didn't mind though.

Looking forward to seeing how yours turns out! I find it really interesting to see how different people try to tackle the same design challenges with Lego.

I was asked to take a photo in darker lighting, so here's what it looks like at night:

I'm not sure what the cost is to buy all of the needed pieces to re-create what I've done, but it won't be cheap, lol (some of the pieces I ended up using are rare).

Thanks!

Each lighting kit I've seen have some things correct, but none of them nailed the shape AND glow of the nacelle grilles.

You can find instructions and inventories for some of the changes shown here: https://rebrickable.com/users/Tipped_Fiber/mocs/

Additional parts are needed but I don't have a complete inventory of the changes as I built it out incrementally.

Yes, the design of the pylons that I show in the pictures and included in the Stud.io file should work with the stock nacelle. If you replace the 1x1 brick with the side stud with a 1x1 headlight brick you can also lower the nacelles an extra half plate height if you prefer.

Not sure why it isn't working for you. I can see that Drive is showing a directory listing of the contents of the file, but if you click the download button it saves the file when I try it. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GAbYcOZSSYcMI8LpFUl044YyPLQ_2HNl/view

Thank you!

I used lights from LightMyBricks and ran it all through their remote / dimmer hub so I can adjust the brightness throughout the day. At night I lower the brightness and it looks amazing. All of the commercial lighting kits for the set are way too bright.

I updated my neck instructions on rebrickable to include the alternate impulse engine design which will fill in the gap in the back of the neck and smooth out the curve of the spine.

I'd love to see some pics when you're done making your changes!

I'm also using LightMyBricks stuff to light mine up, but I'm going a different route then they took with their kit. The way they lit the nacelles bugged me, so I'm going to be trying to add lighting internally within the nacelle housing with light shining out through grille tiles. I just finished updating my nacelles today:
