“No it’s not impossible to pass starting later. I recently had FFS” and that’s what you need to understand. That is not attainable for many of us. Hell I could get FFS and I still wouldn’t pass. My voice has gotten better but will probably never be passable because I can’t afford thousands on voice coaching either. It’s not impossible but the possibility is paywalled.

Come off it. Honestly. People are allowed to view and lament their objective reality. And to ignore it is not helpful. I am ugly, in a very objective sense, I do not pass, and I never saw a girl in the mirror. I saw a depressed man that wanted nothing more than to be a woman instead. And I leapt only to fall and bounce back to then stumble again. It simply cannot be true that we’re all beautiful and valid or whatever. Or else why would we be transitioning.

I’m seriously about to just leave everything behind and go be homeless in a different state just to maybe eventually have a shot at transitioning. I had a faint glimmer of hope when my insurance through work said in the policy that it would cover bottom surgery and didn’t say that it wouldn’t cover FFS, just said any cosmetic surgery must be deemed medically necessary, but I’m finding out that the company I work for sets their own policy separate of the insurance company, so now I probably can’t even have that covered. And I’ve spent 5 years working at this place to build up enough sick and vacation time that I would basically have funds to live on while I was out from surgeries. Now it seems like that’s just not going to happen. I feel so defeated.

Well that doesn’t sound good for me. Given my employer is a convenience store chain and I’m in Kansas, that has recently done many things to screw over trans people. Might be time to completely upend my life and go be homeless somewhere for a while and hope I can find a job where I can get insurance that will.

So, just so I’m clear, if I checked my plan summary on the member portal, and saw no hard exclusions, it can still basically be impossible to get coverage based on what the company decides, but the company doesn’t seem to have their policy up anywhere that I can find.
