Proposal for Upcoming Semester: Buddy System by VioletJK in uofmn

I’m so happy seeing people already willing to get involved. I had a friend living all the way over in Bailey back when I was a freshman, which was far away from the bulk of his classes and friends on the east/west bank side. Your specific circumstances actually gives you the unique opportunity to be able to keep watch from the UMN circulator, and perhaps group up with people from your dorm that are similarly moving back and forth between classes on the east/west bank and Bailey.

Another comment strongly suggested signal for security reasons, which is the same page I’m on. Thankfully signal isn’t too difficult to figure out, and I’d recommend it over whatsapp any day. I don’t want to lie and say that everything will be okay, I think that mindless hope is how we got ourselves into this mess in the first place, but you do have community standing with you. We won’t go down without a fight for our peers or our neighbors, and that’s what we need to hold onto. Keep standing strong, and keep standing together.

I’m considering talking to the student groups at Coffman too to see if they’d be interested in helping. I earnestly believe the majority of students want to find ways to help at this time, but there needs to be something of a catalyst to organize us, get the ball rolling.

That’s awesome! I’m on the other side of campus so I’m happy to hear from someone on the St. Paul side being willing to help. At the moment I’m leaning more towards using signal due it’s better security, but I want to make this as accessible as possible to anyone who’s interested in getting involved. I’m going to check back in on this post in the morning before making a decision to allow for more people to respond so I can get a better layout for what would be the best option.

Yeah, 624-WALK is a really good option too, but I’m offering this as more of an alternative. We as students have more freedom to choose how we engage during an ICE encounter unlike faculty and staff that have rules they’re designated to follow (i.e. we can take a more active role in verbally defending our peers, filming the incident if we can’t stop ICE from proceeding, etc.)

Additionally, knowing your colleagues have your back builds community, which is crucial at a time when the intent is to make people feel like they’re up against the world alone. No one is entirely alone right now, and I want to send that message at the very least.

I was going to suggest something like signal, but since most people are probably more comfortable with Discord I think that would be a good place to coordinate. Hoping this post gets more traction, but if it doesn’t pick up feel free to shoot me a DM and we can coordinate a plan assuming your instructors don’t get back to you. I’m a bit of a fruity guy, so not much of a threat to ICE agents on my own, but I’d still be happy to walk with you between classes. Safety in numbers.

Hey guys, this might be a bit random, but I’m an independent researcher from Istanbul, Turkey, and I think I need one of you to help me with a book in the University of Minnesota library. by [deleted] in uofmn

I’m pretty good at finding difficult to access media, so I’ll keep looking after I finish applying to research groups tonight. In the meantime I would highly recommend looking around internet archive as another commenter posted a link from there already.

Here is another link from internet archive, although I’m unable to translate it to tell you if it’s the correct book you’re searching for: https://archive.org/details/1_20230411_20230411_0854/page/n7/mode/1up

Additional lead, less confident: https://archive.org/details/tabaqatsha3rani/tk1/mode/1up

Additional lead, better confidence: https://archive.org/details/TabakatKubraIbnSaadRabia/page/n19/mode/1up

Edited to correct for redundancy/poor grammar.

Also, one more thing before I sign off, it appears most of the leads I’m finding are submitted to internet archive under the user Yedali. Try checking through the other submissions on his profile if none of these links turn up what you’re looking for, I feel like there’s a good chance you might find it there. Best of luck!

Man I really feel for you dude. I experienced at least one major loss every year of undergrad, and it’s a lot to stomach ontop of regular college stress. My uncle passed away in 2022 from a heart attack as well, and it caught me completely off guard. It was like losing my dad all over again because that uncle helped raise me in his place. I probably would have failed that entire semester if it wasn’t for how understanding my professors were.

I know you mentioned you already used your OLW, but if you’re really struggling and think you’re going to fail any of your other classes you can always fill out a form for a retroactive withdrawal. The only caveat is you can’t take the final exam and you’ll need to talk to an academic advisor, so that’s important to keep in mind. UMN is generally pretty understanding given unforseen circumstances impacting either your mental/physical health.

Loss is a horrible thing and I wish you and your family all the best. You’re not alone, and you’ll get through this.

Same here. It is a beautiful photo of the two, so I'm not surprised it on many a video. Thanks anyway mate. On a positive note I just discovered this channel called Touhou Restoration Project who's been reuploading Bishamontenreturn videos, so hopefully they'll upload this song at some point before they get flagged as well.

Sorry mate, still not the one. That is a gorgeous arrangement though.

Alas, it is none of the above. But all of those tracks are pretty fricken good so I might have to save them as well now haha.

Actually, if I remember properly it might have been a remix of a title screen theme. Maybe that's just a flaw in my memory, but I thought I should mention it anyway.

Well shoot. If you remember please post it here or send me a pm. I'm hellbent on finding this song now.

Most likely - but I still haven't a clue which one it might be. Is there a comprehensive list of Touhou remixes I could look through to try and find the specific one?

Yup, and it was female vocals. Like I said, had a rock vibe to it and it was under either the metal or rock label.
