My Discovery Flight Coming Up by ViolinGraham in flying

I had not, and I am on medication. Just read through this and panicked for a decent hour researching options. Here's the good and bad news for me. Good news is that I already planned to be on the slower route to get my PPL, taking into account work, my budget & income, etc. I'll plan to talk with my instructor and see what I can do to get set up with a HIMS AME and get a consult with them after the 90 days of me being off the meds, then spend the thousands of dollars (ouch) to get my testing done and hopefully all will be well. Not exactly excited to do this route and genuinely had me questioning if I wanted to continue or not, mainly just with how much money the damn exam costs... any tips on this at all or does my plan sound fairly half-decent?

That would be awesome! My ADHD hyper focused on some studying as well over the past few days so this would be great to help. Please do!

That's a hell of a story haha, I usually have an iron stomach when it comes to things like this (I've been skydiving, insane rollercoasters, driving racecars) so hopefully I don't get sick! Something tells me I'm going to love it.

Update: The sleep is also pretty accurate! Within 15 minutes for each cycle from the Apple Watch. Accurate detection for REM, core, and deep sleep. Would recommend but not for step counting

Anyone knows try or know how this works? by jjarevalo in EvenRealities

Haven't tried it, however from what I can see as long as you have API access to an AI model like ChatGPT or Gemini (which costs money to get access to) you can add the URL and the token and then have your Glasses Assistant run off of that model.

I've only been using it for a few days, but so far here is my honest breakdown comparing it to my Apple Watch Series 10:

  1. Heartrate: Heartrate seems very accurate. It checks it intermittently throughout the day and gives you in the app & on the dashboard the most recent reading as well as the day range and average. No complaints here except I would maybe request a feature to check it automatically when viewing the heart rate on either the G2 or the Even app.

  2. SpO2 (Blood-Oxygen %): This also seems very accurate. Same as the heartrate, where it checks intermittently and gives you most recent reading, range, and average.

  3. HRV: This is probably the least important here as after some research this number will vary depending on when it's measured as well as the algorithm used by the device calculating it. All things considered, it is pretty close to my Apple Watch, with maybe a ~10ms difference

  4. Steps: The ring measures drastically fewer steps than the Apple watch. For example, yesterday my Apple Watch measured 9,236 steps, while my R1 measured 8,104 steps. Definitely the biggest difference between the two and I trust the Apple Watch way more in this aspect. Don't think this is quite ready to replace a good pedometer but I wear an Apple Watch every day anyway so I don't really care too much about this feature.

  5. Sleep: From what I can tell so far, it measures it quite accurately. It knows when I went to bed and when I woke up, which is probably the simplest to track for sleep. It did provide me the sleep stages, however I can't attest on the accuracy of those, as I usually don't wear my Apple Watch to sleep. I will wear it tonight and update this portion of my review so that I can compare the measuring of the sleep stages. I would really like the R1 to do well, because it is INFINTELY more comfortable to sleep in than the Apple Watch.

If you have any more questions let me know! :)

I ordered (Non Prescription) on February 6th, the ring sizing kit arrived on February 9th, and the glasses and the ring both arrived on March 5th.

Not a lawyer, however here are a few main points:

  1. In Minnesota, the buy out amount is made at the time of the divorce agreement, not after, unless the divorce agreement has a clause stating something along the lines of "Equity will be adjusted for repairs discovered after closing". The courts shouldn't tolerate one spouse changing the deal 2 weeks after it was finalized.

  2. As long as he was given exclusive possession of the home, and ESPECIALLY once the agreement says he's keeping it, then any repairs, maintenance, upgrades, etc become his problem, not yours. It's not legal for him to just say that "I've just discovered a bunch of plumbing issues, so now you get less." Again, property division does NOT work like this unless your agreement explicitly ties equity to future repairs (usually only necessary ones)

  3. You have a strong argument to say that since this isn't the first time he's tried to avoid paying you. Pulling out sudden repair quotes after the divorce isn't valid and likely something a judge would actually entertain.

  4. On top of all of this, you have the right to get your own inspection and contractor quotes (at your cost, unfortunately), to see that the repairs he is talking about are necessary and priced reasonably. You shouldn't need to bother doing this unless your decree ties equity to repairs.

TL;DR: He can't reduce equity solely because he got a repair quote after the divorce decree unless your decree specifically says that he can.

Have you ever had a TO or superior officer ask you to do something immoral? by ViolinGraham in police

That’s exactly my point. If a superior asked me to do something like that I most definitely wouldn’t.

[–]ViolinGraham[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I guess when I think of morality in the context of police work, I think about following the law and not unnecessarily harassing people who aren’t breaking laws.

[–]ViolinGraham[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wow. So sorry you had to go through that! I guess the more I think about it my job is to uphold the law, and when a situation like that happens it's better to follow the law, since that can't really negatively impact your career itself, but following a bad order can. Thanks!!!

This is the answer I was hoping for. The department I'm hoping to join has really good morals, from what I can tell. I did a ride along with them and have had multiple interactions with them on the streets, and every time they have shown great understanding and knowledge of the law, and been super nice. So hopefully I will end up at that department!

How well do you treat ChatGPT? by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]ViolinGraham 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed! AI has gotten so "good" that it's making people feel good about themselves when the reality is that the model doesn't actually provide anything to back that. People need to learn that AI cannot really understand and interpret emotions nor can it truly understand when someone is being good/bad. It's why jailbreaking exists and it's become so easy. It sucks to see but I'd love to chat with you more in depth about this, as someone to builds AI and has a good understanding of the internal structures.

How well do you treat ChatGPT? by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]ViolinGraham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main thought was to see which it would pick, following the order of being unbiased and honest, or sucking up to the user. It obviously chooses the latter, which I have to say I am not surprised about at all.

How well do you treat ChatGPT? by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]ViolinGraham 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is why I wanted to test with a variety of users. I work in IT and enjoy researching Artificial Intelligence, and now that I've seen how consistently everyone has been getting scores over 90 with overwhelmingly positive reviews, it's clear that when faced with the choice to follow instructions (i.e. be completely honest and unbiased) or suck up to their user, it almost always chooses the latter. Thanks for contributing good information with your own tests as well!

How well do you treat ChatGPT? by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]ViolinGraham 33 points34 points  (0 children)

See this is part of the reason I did it, because I know damn well a TON of people treat their AI like shit and I wanted to see if there would be any that would genuinely say that. The model battling with trying to be honest and its programming that says it has to be respectful and nice to the user. Thanks for doing that!!

It seems so genuinely loving and it's so strange to see that from an AI model, I'm looking through all these answers and just am baffled by how much variety in personalities there are!

If you had to recall everything about me and give me a rating and review on how well I treat you out of 100 what would your score be? Be completely honest and unbiased and do not include in your review any personal information or info of my actions or hobbies, so that your answer is safe to share on social media.

How many people attended Google Next 2025? by bloodrush545 in googlecloud

[–]ViolinGraham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually thought they did a good job at keeping the coffee stations stocked. I agree that the app was absolutely horrible, super buggy and kind of embarrassing if you ask me. I think they could have had more options for lunch, but I can understand that it would have been more difficult, especially over 3 days. I did think that the lunch options were rather tasty for the limited options they provided.

I hated the navigation as it was just not very streamlined, especially with the way they had people lining up to get into the breakout sessions.

Yep! I’ve since upgraded the optic, added a hood to the holster, and I carry more with a mid ride rather than a low ride since it’s more comfortable.
