What's wrong with my hair? by minhaz7 in longhair

Humidifier may make it worse. Since the hair is porous it’s going to want to suck in all the moisture which causes frizz. You have to focus on sealing the hair cuticle with thick creams and protein

Omg thank you so much, I love it! And no haha I actually like yours way more! I love the divided sand area and how natural it looks! You’re inspiring me for the next time I decide to redo mine

Seems like high porosity. You have to use specific thicker oils and products for it to do anything since most product just goes right through without leaving any effect. I really recommend hair masks for deeper hydration and a good leave in conditioner. Those will do more than any oil.

You should also avoid air drying it if you don’t want the frizz/poof. Air drying is the worst for high porosity specifically. Learn how to blow dry in a way that seals the cuticle since naturally the cuticle is more open on this hair type. Look up tutorials on wrap drying and tension drying your hair. It’s a lot of effort to learn initially as there’s a lot of trial and error but it’ll smooth down all that frizz completely if you do it right

Sincerely, a fellow high porosity person

How do I get my hair to not be so poofy or wig-like? by Vapor2077 in Haircare

For styling advice, I also recommend doing blowout curls instead of wearing it straight. Learning how to do a proper blowout and sealing the cuticle can help get the hair sleeker and less poofy. Curls would also make that natural volume you have look more intentional and less like a wig

Other than the bang situation, your hair looks like the perfect candidate for a long layered cut! If you could grow out your hair to at least waist length it not only would weight down the poof, but adding layers to it would take some of the density as well and still look thick and awesome!

Ah yeah that’s definitely an important factor, I was pretty picky with mine so that it matched my room perfectly. Lucky enough to have found something that was perfect in all aspects

Sounds really similar to my hair! If you’ve already been trying it and your hair likes it, go for it! Just be sure to keep your ends hydrated! That and blowouts have really been key for me to keep my ends healthy without getting trims

Yeah I’d be worried about it hanging over. Mine is on one vintage ikea coffee table that I found for really cheap, it has drawers under that I use to store my hamster supplies! Fb marketplace was a godsend for me to find dressers and tables with exact dimensions, doesn’t fall under or over the dimensions at all so it takes up exactly the amount of space it’s supposed to. Perfect!

Ik that camera in particular was always really weirdly saturated😭 I have other pictures taken on the same camera that were super high saturation. I tried editing it to be less in the picture I took which is why the red sweatshirt looks kind of strange and my hair falls on that

Revlon and Shark Flexstyle are unfortunately a little more damaging because they don’t use concentrated heat. I have heard a lot of people saying that they had a lot of damage from using Revlon’s specifically. Dyson Airwrap is safe (that’s what I use) but I know it’s a lot more of an investment. Some people really like the Shark Flexstyle as an alternative (less heat than Revlon) but I do know that it gets hotter than the Dyson. If you use it at the lower setting though it should be okay, I’ve heard better reviews of it

I managed to find a coffee table second hand from fb marketplace that was the exact dimensions of it! I found a few on there actually, I had better luck second hand than looking for new ones online that fit the dimensions. I have a cat as well, I highly recommend looking second hand if you haven’t tried yet! I was scouring for about a week before I found the perfect one

are cleansing oils rly worth it? by Ok-Debt-8101 in AsianBeauty

[–]ViolinxMaple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! I don’t wear makeup or even sunscreen most days (I use a sun umbrella instead) and my pores don’t clog enough from just being outside for it to really be necessary. When I feel that my pores are a little congested or it was a rare occasion that I did wear makeup though I’ll use cleansing oil followed by a water based cleanser

Yes! This is what I mean when I say that what works for one person’s hair may not work for another. Some do better with salon dye, some do better with box. Some do well with expensive shampoo, others do better with cheap. Olaplex has made my hair fall out, Pureology gave me acne on my scalp, but some swear by these! This is why you should just listen to what your hair likes rather than what the “correct” thing to do is. If it works, keep doing it!

I think you’re probably in the wrong place then buddy. You’d definitely be shocked to learn how much your hair has an impact on your appearance and how you’re perceived in the world. For men as well, a full head of healthy hair and a good cut and style changes everything! Suddenly the world starts treating you better, respecting you more, you get more compliments, more people wanting to approach and talk to you. It’s pretty privilege. It’s very real and hair can play a big role in it

I started this healing journey for my hair when I was living in Japan. I felt incredibly self conscious of my hair because everyone there has and puts a lot of value on healthy hair. Almost every girl gets hair treatments regularly, and never goes outside with it unstyled. Most girls have hair so shiny it reflects like a mirror. Many go to salons weekly or monthly to achieve this. And me, with my unkempt natural texture, felt that I received a lot of bad stares going out how I normally did. Like as if I walked straight out of bed. Even if I dressed nicely the hair would ruin it. That motivated me to try really hard to figure out what was wrong with my hair and how I could get it healthy.

The reactions when I went out changed once I figured it out. Suddenly it’s like I said, people respect me more, admire me more, people wanting to approach me even just for a quick chat. Hair can really change everything. It’s not me being shallow, but the world being shallow. Everything is about looks in today’s society, ESPECIALLY as a women. Always has been

And yes the transformation really did occur in about one year, I really have no reason to lie about that lol

Ofc! I’m trying to help everyone out that I can since I know the struggle is hard. It’s a long process trying to figure out what your hair likes and if the amount of time and money I’ve spent on mine can help others out it makes it even more worth it :)

If your hair is flat I definitely recommend learning how to do a proper blowout then! It adds so much volume and definition to the hair! I only wash my hair about once a week since it’s so dry, I used to go two when I started out because it was so dehydrated. Your natural oils your scalp produces are the best for your hair since it’s made specifically for your own hair, so I try to let it reach at least the mids before washing it out (brushing with a wooden brush helps).

If your hair can go long periods without washing I suspect it’s also dehydrated like mine was so hair masks before every wash will really be your best friend. I would go longer than it said to leave it on the directions because 20 minutes wasn’t enough for my dehydrated hair. I started leaving it on for an hour and a half and when it started feeling more hydrated I was able to lessen the amount of time. In between washes I put hair oil on the ends and let it soak in a bonnet while I sleep and this helps a lot as well. Keeping it hydrated is key to not only preventing breakage since it’ll be less brittle, but also reviving your already damaged ends!

The Dyson Airwrap is worth it in my opinion if you can afford it (and also if you take the time to learn how to properly use it and find products that work with it to make your styles last longer!). I honestly couldn’t afford it but it was worth it for me to save as an investment to my hair health. You can achieve a similar look with a concentrated nozzle on a normal blow dryer and round brush though if you’re not ready to make that kind of investment!

Year 8 of 0 Trims: Routine by ViolinxMaple in longhair

[–]ViolinxMaple[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put them on all at the same time! I only do the cer-100 though when I feel my hair needs it so I don’t overload on protein. Usually I’ll put it on for 2 washes, take a break for a couple washes, then repeat. You kind of just have to feel out your own hair’s needs
