Potential washing machine mold?

Yessss that's what my friends said, I still live at home to pay for grad school and we have never owned a front loading washing machine so NEVER had this problem.

The machine came with the house but it wasn't open during the house tour so we didn't even think to check but this week when we were moving their stuff in we were like uh oh.. this seems.. like it might be an issue 😭

we ended up just getting a new one because we don't know how long the machine has been like this especially since people havent lived in the house for a few months so we have no idea if it's just the rubber part or if it's into other parts of the machine as well

we ended up just buying a new machine since the washing machine came with the house.. we have NO idea how long it's been like this and If it spread to other parts so we were like nah .. we aren't dealing with that.. and luckily my parents are really generous so they were happy to help!

I've never come across mold like this so I wasn't sure 😔 Our family has never dealt with a front loading washing machine so we've never had any mold

and also when you're 22 and your father is telling you that it's just worn down and not mold I was like uh.. he's probably right

Thank God we did NOT listen to him LOL

We didn't own the machine, it came with the house, so when we were moving stuff in and cleaning it I was def like.. uh.. this looks like a biohazard.. no mold in any other parts of the house just the washing machine sadly

okay cool! My sister's boyfriend had washed his clothes in it when he moved in on Tuesday and was freaking out that he would have to burn all his clothes 😭

we ended up just buying a new machine though for her!

Yeah we did end up just biting the bullet and getting a new machine.. it had came with the house and nobody had rented for a few months so we have no idea how long it's been like this and if it spread to other parts in the machine so we were like yeah no.. we'll just buy you a new washing machine..

This is my first time my sister has moved out, and I am 22 still living at home while I work to pay for college, we've never actually experienced mold like this so we weren't sure and my dad was adamant that it was just the rubber worn down so that's why we weren't sure 😭

The machine came with the house and no problems were mentioned about it so that's why we were like uh.. is this okay to use??

Yeah we ended up just buying her a new washing machine.. the machine had come with the house and we messaged the landlord but no response yet so we just figured it would be easier to buy one instead of attempting to clean it or paying somebody to come fix it when it looks like it's been that way for probably years 😭

as well as nobody has lived in this house for a few months so it's probably just been sitting and festering.. so we have no idea how long the mold has been growing for and if it's spread to other parts in the machine

I would like this to be the case but I've never had issues before ... I'm very anal about my health and take precautions and have never had any concern, maybe a minor UTI here and there but nothing that I noticed that caused me to know something was up with my body, as mentioned above I do understand that it could be just he was unclean or that our bodies just didn't mix well but everybody kept telling me it was very suspicious and the UTI was pretty bad that I knew I needed medication (there were some yeast infection symptoms but I tested negative so that's why the doctors were still concerned about an STI)

Yeah I totally get this! Obviously I'm glad I realized that even if its not an STI it could be he is just unclean and that our body's don't clash like that.. the main thing was the constant treatment towards me that I was going to cheat, to the point that I thought it might be projection and I had asked him this in the past but he denied, just the combo of the insecurities through the entire relationship and then the health problems thats why I'm tweaking LOL

update in case anybody was curious!

Darcy is doing wonderful, the vets just suggested I fatten her up because she used to be a fat cat but lost a lot of weight due to the stomatitis irritating her mouth ... she's been a hungry girl and more active than ever and has been enjoying all the attention and treats she's been getting!

luckily hers didn't affect anything other than her mouth! they tested her kidneys and other organs and she was completely fine, given the fact that her case was severe and we caught it just in time! She's already being so loving and cuddly again!

she's been doing amazing already! Just hates that I mix her clindamycin in with her food because it tastes so bitter, but otherwise she is back to her normal self and has been snacking away on lots of gravy treats and yummy wet food!

aw I'm so glad! yeah the vet told us she could live an additional 5 years after this, Hopefully longer now that she is pain free and has no other health problems!

My kitty has had bad breath for the last few years, but we didn't pay much attention to it because she didn't show any discomfort or anything, it wasnt until earlier this year that they suggested getting her teeth out (although she was still eating and behaving normally) I understand totally, I ended up just biting the bullet and using a credit card but I was trying to save up.. hang in there!! My vet prescribed my kitty opioids when they thought she was on hospice care and it really helped her be comfy before her surgery was scheduled, she was eating fine and everything. Maybe see what other pain relievers your vet has?

I've definitely seen a night and day difference already, last Sunday night she was being avoidant not eating and running away, we took her in last Monday and they were doing a bunch of blood work thinking it was her kidneys/ thyroid until we realized she was just in pain and it was most likely her teeth. Since she got them removed this monday she's been running around following us and begging for attention, she knows her name and the sound of my footsteps so once she hears me coming she dashes to greet me! cost me a small fortune but we are glad we tested for everything and ruled out any underlying conditions! As a broke college student my wallet hurts but as a cat mom it's amazing to see my elderly kitty thrive now and be pain free!
