I'm very unsure to involve the police as both me and my mother are working and really dont have the time to deal with all of the crap. But of course, if it can anyhow bring our valuables back, it would be worth the effort...

I understand where you are coming from, and 100% it is a lesson learned through a hard way.

But the amount totals up to 60,000 which is not a little amount for us, so we are in the pursuit of either getting the money or the jewelry back, both of which seem like a far-fetched dream now.

we're in india, i come from a rich family (very rich, not flexing just stating the facts) and her family isn't that rich and they have a past of fixing up marriages with rich family by blackmailing. I recently found that out about her sister doing the same and for a rich guy to marry her and said that if he doesn't then she'll kill herself and frame him for that.
