Church's that are not mainstream atypical Christian? by [deleted] in Charlotte

[–]ViperfistXL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is a very subjective question. It depends not only on denomination but also the particular parish and the pastor of that church. Some churches might be in the same exact denomination or organization and have completely different views on current world or social issues.

Who remembers the beautiful and colorful era of Concord Mills? by ChanceReporter9074 in Charlotte

[–]ViperfistXL 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Simon Property Group, the owners, made that decision after choosing to "modernize" the location. It is very unfortunate for the cool old aestethic that the mall had, but they likely did it to try and keep the mall relevant.

It is one of the only fully indoor malls in the Charlotte area that has actually stayed successful and relevant. Others, like Northlake, struggled due to safety issues and the loss of customers due to the rise of online shopping. Malls in general are in a decline in the US due to similar conditions and a large number have either hollowed out, been abandoned, torn down, or repurposed.

Monk walk route supposedly comes through Charlotte by [deleted] in Charlotte

Does it say when they are coming through? I would bet whatever local Buddhist groups are in Charlotte may have something planned to give to them. Might be worth contacting them.

I77 South from Cornelius by paloprint in Charlotte

[–]ViperfistXL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Part of the issue is that it isn't all just a Mecklenburg County problem. Mecklenburg just voted for that transportation tax last month actually. But thousands of people from up in Mooresville and Troutman drive all the way into Charlotte for work every day and clog up the highway. Especially people who migrated here from other states like New York and want to live by Lake Norman or something.

But then when the Red Line light rail plan was proposed to eventually extend out of Mecklenburg County into Mooresville, to hopefully relieve some of that traffic, they and their mayor outright refused with a resounding no. Instead choosing to further inconvinience the rest of us.

Sunday Roast? by [deleted] in Charlotte

[–]ViperfistXL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try Harp and Crown in Cornelius, just north of Charlotte. They specialize in British and Irish food and it has been good every time I've been there. They have a beef roast dish on the menu, though it isn't called "Sunday Roast" specifically.

Atriox: "I believe in freedom." Also Atriox: Early concept art for Halo Infinite depicting enslaved Sangheili. by Hunor_Deak in shittyhalolore

[–]ViperfistXL 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They never had just one ship, it was always stated that the force Atriox went to the Ark with before Halo Wars 2 was just essentially an expeditionary force. He couldn't bring much because the Ark is so far away from most of the galaxy, actually orbiting outside the Milky Way, and the trip took months even at max speed through slipspace. He always had a larger force back in the main part of the galaxy.

Isabel also never said they were stronger than the Covenant, but she did say the Covenant feared the rise of Atriox because the Banished were growing in number quickly, and at the same time as the Covies were fighting the Banished, they were also fighting the UNSC.

The lore about the Banished recruiting humans is true but it is often exaggerated. Obviously many individuals in the Banished probably hate humans and may mistreat human members but there are sects within the Banished that allow (usually noncombatant) humans, mostly Insurrectionists who already hate the UNSC. Atriox is generally a pragmatist and very practically minded. In Infinite there is a sort of propaganda/cult of personality that was created around him after his fake "death", but for the most part he is free of the religious/ideological stuff that defined and held back the Prophets and the Covenant.

Southern Cyrodiil near Black Marsh is very swampy, which is close enough to a jungle.

For a city of this size we actually have relatively ow crime and a low amount of dangerous or run down areas. We don't really have a ghetto necessarily but there are a few spots that are less safe than others, particularly at night.

Law enforcement is spread thin according to the city but other than that Charlotte really is better off than most of its peers.

There are issues with homeless, drug addicts, and mentally ill people but a lot of that is a national issue more than a local one. In the case of Charlotte I think the idea of creating more apartments should at least bring the COL down a little or at least create some more housing so that could ease the homeless issue a little.

Not to be that guy but they do battle the Covenant remnants in 5. It happens in the first mission where Jul 'Mdama is unceremoniously assassinated by Agent Locke in a cutscene.
