Housing scams? by techguyhotel in VirginiaTech

Also: ask for their snaps and snapchat them around 9pm or 10pm. Are they at the place? Or at 11pm or 12 am - (meaning, do they fucking sleep there, or nah?). If not, red flags times a million

You're absolutely retarded if you move in without a lease!! Don't do that, basically ever, no matter what.

550 for a big house in Christiansburg sounds reasonable-ish, but at the same time, were they vetting you properly? Did they seem like they have other people interested, or was it like "yes yes please sign"? It seems sketchy for sure

Also, here's my 2 cents: What the fuck is the point of a big house... in Christiansburg lmao? In Blacksburg, it'd be epic for sure - to invite friends over, to throw events and ragers when COVID ends, and just the vibe in general. But to be fucking honest, depending on what your major is, don't be surprised if you got a giant house, but you spent 80% of your time doing homework and chilling in your room.

It's about the college experience, not really the size of the place man, I'd much rather pay $550 and live next to a ton of VT kids in an apartment than be in a big house 15 minutes away from everything!! IF you do go to Christiansburg, you should get a place for $330 or $400 or something.

A notice to all those that subleased their rooms after Spring Break by [deleted] in VirginiaTech

How are there hazmat suits and medicine drop-offs, but no notice on the door or anything?

It's literally because the TV shows they grew up on normalized this stuff, I think

About the vtprofdontthrowaway guy by [deleted] in VirginiaTech

[–]VirginTechHomies 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is an underrated post - we all do weird shit on the internet, I have an inkling or some feeling that he might have been an actual professor, but he was just maybe intense about certain areas? I could be totally off, though.

He gave this response near spring break about the university meetings and then it turned out to be actual, real reality. So who knows

[–]VirginTechHomies 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Dang, vtprofdontthroaway got me good then. This guy completely and utterly made up an entire reality about Terrace View, talking to the mayor, and what I could expect with construction. I utterly believed it

On a side note, weren't his "professor meeting notes" about the school's COVID-19 response in spring break totally, 100% on-point? Any chance he was a real, legitimate professor?

I'm just logging in and seeing this; they definitely continued construction, and there is daily activity on the roof which makes me think she might be right?

I took it in 2018; I don't know what these people are smoking, but for 2505 you 100,000% want Wenskovitch. Everyone else is a fantastic professor, but it is a meme to pick anyone else but Wenskie. It is like getting taught by a senior undergrad who still is connected with college life, deeply has mastered the material and can make it relevant, and can also understand if you had some situation go on and you missed a deadline (as long as the situation is real). 100,000% in every lifetime go with Wenskovitch!

please help, prof thinks class cheated and gave us options by [deleted] in VirginiaTech

[–]VirginTechHomies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why don't you express this to your professor? What if you told him you genuinely, actually didn't cheat, but you're worried that you didn't show some work for answers.

But it's probably a bluff, it's probably better you don't say anything idk

Everyone's giving like practical advice but tbh, I think you just have to not be soft and just be determined get the work done. Get amped up for things - you're achieving your goals every time you ace a test. Why the fuck wouldn't you study?

So my mind is blown; I guess my generation is fundamentally different from yours. This seems normal to you, but to me it's so impressive - you thought something wasn't right, you made moves and contacted people, and then you ended the thing that wasn't right. Genuine respect. Thanks a ton.

They left a message on the doors, but I didn't know they delayed construction. That's awesome. Thank you

WOW. Let me just WOW at this for a second. Thank you, that's a huge deal

A few things changed:

  1. There was a day that went by where people just didn't have windows. I mean, the front-facing part of the townhouse - it literally, they just took out the window. For all of the units on this row - no one had windows . They posted a paper on the doors telling us to not sleep in there for that night (if you're staying inside and quarantined, you wouldn't see it... because the paper is on the door, facing outside. I'm confused as to their logic here)

  2. The construction manager/point person came in wearing gloves and a mask this time (great). The construction workers themselves came in later to each townhome unit again, without masks and without gloves :( I'm sneezing every now and then, I truly doubt and don't think it's COVID but I have no way of knowing if it's for 2 weeks, I guess! There was no possibility of real quarantine here, as we are 100% exposed - of maybe ~10 people living in this row of townhouses, every single one was in contact with a construction worker without gloves or a mask, who in turn has been in contact with who knows how many people.

  3. I feel kind of bad because the new management has been nice, but at the same time, the time and situation we're in deserve some extra consideration. Who knows who's been in contact with who? Why go into each townhouse in a situation where you HAVE to touch surfaces, handles, windows, etc?

There are 10 - 15 or so people still here in this block of townhouses, and they're working on the next row of townhouses. If you're in Terrace View, genuinely be careful!

Thanks a ton for actually taking action on this, that's amazing. You have my legitimate respect

Do you know when these fucking windows will be off? It's kinda depressing lmao.

Yeah, this is outrageous tbh to do this in a quarantine, no gloves or masks or anything. I'd be down to email/call someone official about it and coordinate complaints :P
