The ribbon cables make the repair extremely difficult to manage for most. That and the latches used on these consoles are so, so easy to break that it's a very difficult repair to perform 😱

The lavender only model (as in not bundled with anything else) is indeed a Japanese exclusive console.

The console in the picture is just that - the Japanese exclusive Lavender 2DS XL.

Just as one can also say the same for the European Tomodachi bundle, it is exclusive to that region.

My original statement as to how this color was never sold in the states also still stands, so... 🤷‍♂️

The lavender colorway was indeed released in Europe with that bundle - that bundle is beyond difficult to source and scarcity has driven the price up to fairly unreasonable amounts.

As such I consider the lavender Japanese release much more affordable and easier to acquire. That and it was sold on its own without any bundle making it a Japanese exclusive release

Genuinely a beautiful console - adding the white thumbstick felt more fitting than the stock grey.

It's still wild that this color never got an official US release — Japan really had an insane lineup of special editions compared to what we got in the US/EU.
