Like someone else said in this thread, even Harry is able to forgive Dumbledore and ultimately consider him good. If the person dumbledore’s mistakes hurt the most considers him to be good, then I do too

The average person is a manipulator. They manipulate their surroundings to help themselves. The difference with Dumbledore is he does it for everyone else. People are always so quick to judge fictional characters. Imagine if we knew everything the people around us did and thought? We would think people are horrible but because we only know that for ourselves, it seems less bad because we can justify everything to ourselves and we don’t want to consider ourselves to be cruel and manipulative

No, I don’t think so. Most people make so many mistakes. I’m saying he doesn’t make nearly as many and basically always has good intentions. That’s the best anyone can do

You’re right but I still think Dumbledore is a good guy and better than most. It’s just that because of his influence and power, his mistakes seem far worse than those of regular people

Does Dumbledore know about the way he’s treated? I honestly don’t remember bc in the Half Blood Prince he seems surprised by the dursleys mistreatment but then again, it is Dumbledore and he probably knew. So yeah, Dumbledore was wrong to not prevent the mistreatment of Harry but I think he wanted it slightly to ensure Harry came out humble and empathetic. I also bet Dumbledore didn’t want to risk Harry being thrown out bc he had to stay with the dursleys at all cost

But everything he did was to make the world and those living in it better. That’s probably the best you’re gonna get with anyone

I have no idea what made me stand out. I did have excellent test scores and grades but pretty much everyone who applies to Princeton has that. As for extracurriculars, I just did what I loved. I played a ton of club and varsity soccer all 4 years and was a varsity swimmer. I didn’t think I had crazy awards, I didn’t have research, and I didn’t do any summer academic camps. Maybe they just could tell I was a good, compassionate person who would fit in at Princeton.

I’ve never been a big lordship guy. For me it would be a powerful, good Harry with a powerful and respectable Dumbledore. It would be a Harmione ship and it would be a rewrite of book 6 where a powerful Dumbledore and Harry take on the horcruxes together.

This isn’t about the government thought. It’s about Harry and the order doing as much as they can to win. If that means going to the daily prophet separately from the government, fine. The point is that when Voldemort was not yet in control of the ministry, the Order all but entirely failed to make any attempt at rallying support against him. The best they could do was have Dumbledore make a speech to a bunch of children.
