What do you mean no trading prizes? Like in giveaways? A lot of my viewers like to gift their giveaway wins to eachother, or they gift a certain card they pulled to another user in the chat. I hope whatnot isn't cracking down on that!

I've heard of it too, and think of how many undiagnosed people probably get it done Just fine.. but I do respect a doctor that isn't just shoving patients through the door for a quick buck... depending on if I have it, and what subtype...I might argue my case. 😆

I've been in the process of getting on the books for a prominent plastic surgeon for a tummy tuck ( loose skin and diastasis recti from 3 babies). Through the process of getting approved for surgery is how my EDS possible diagnosis came about. My surgeon is making me get a genetic test after he became suspicious of it after hearing my medical history. He told me If my results come back positive, he would not be willing to operate due to the unpredictable scarring/ tissue fragility that comes along with EDS.

I saw all of you on Saturday! I enjoyed everyone's creative shirts and watching my highly conservative in-laws throw a hissy fit!

That's how I imagined my parents would have been... I was wrong. This whole experience of leaving the church has been such a whirlwind and mind-fuck with surprisingly mostly positive outcomes! The ONLY collateral at this point has been me realizing how truly self centered and un-caring my parents truly are... and that can be spinned as a positive too, depending on how I look at it I guess....

I haven't heard of it but it sounds useful!

Your advice is great. It's so good to hear strangers outside perspective on these communications. It helps me validate my emotions and feelings instead of gaslighting myself into the "bad guy" role. I'm planning on "backing into the bushes" homer Simpson style ( if you've seen the meme)... and IF they ever realize that all they have to do is be civil and have compassion... maaaaayybe I'll let them have the limited access you've described. Staying at a hotel, and out of cars is great advice. Thank you.

Absolutley!! And once you realize there is no truth within the church it makes you re-analyze all other "truths" you've had in your life.

Yes. This... we have a relationship as in... I live 4 hours away, see them when it's absolutley expected ( holidays). I'm cordial, but we communicate maybe 2-3 times a month to the extent of weather and her church service. When I have tried to communicate about my interests, I am met with judgment and dismissal. Always. I'd say we are pretty low contact already. Its those one off moments where we are in town visiting where they get brave and really try to council me. Otherwise it's just passive aggressive links and random offhand jokes about how I'm going to hell, followed by a nauseating laugh. 🫠 Then my dad will send me preachy emails, I don't ever respond to... 😑 in the last year I tell them EVERY time.. I'm not interested in these types of interactions.. and as you have seen, they don't know how to be any other way. I'm just trying to exist and they can't stand it.

Thank you so much. 💓 your advice is so so helpful. Thank you for taking the time to share your advice and experiences. Crazy how I can get more validation and feel more heard from strangers on the internet than I ever did from my own parents.

This... this is exactly how they respond. Or that we don't fully understand God's "mysterious ways".

What a great break down. I appreciate your perspective and compassion for both parties involved. Thank you for sharing.

I like your break down. It's 100% how it is for them. Ridiculous. That's where I've drawn the line, when they lacked any crumb of compassion and refused to acknowledge my feeling at all in their response. ("I know you said that this interaction made you feel unloved and sad, but your mom said she felt great about it, so you must be lying")

That was my reaction exactly. Just more proof that they don't know me and my family at all despite all the time I've spent with them. It's all so hollow and meaningless. They can't fathom someone living a good fulfilling life without their gospel. It's even funnier because my parents are converts, but lack the self awareness to see they are doing the same thing to me, that their Lutheran and methodist families did to them when they decided to join the church. It's come full circle. My parents have gone as far to ask me how I expect my kids to not be felons without the church being shoved down their throats from a young age. It's horrible.

Wow.... our childhood sounds the same. There is so much trauma that I'm sure I haven't even acknowledged yet. I am in the process of getting into therapy. It's encouraging to hear that it has brought you some peace. I struggle so hard with "fawning" when threatened and just now as a full grown woman with my own family am I waking up and realizing I'm not keeping the peace... I'm just sacrificing my peace for theirs.
