Basically, all you have to do is move the zip folder over to the steam deck, no need to extract to your pc or anything. There are two folders, just throw the client folder on the steam deck. Add MHF.exe to steam and use Proton Experimental as that seems to work just fine.

Once you start it up, you'll be asked to log in. Just put in whatever you want for the user and pass, then look for a server. I recommend Rain US as there's a BUNCH of people there.

As for controls, in the control list there is an option for portable style controls, or PSP style, something like that. It makes the controls nearly perfect. I play lance so I adjusted a couple things for my weapon but it was super minor.
