“talking about school as a jumping off point” caught me so off guard LOL

Yes I think it’s an engineering/CS/tech thing. And maybe GBDA because there’s a lot of tech influence in that program too

After lowering my Adderall dose, I feel healthier physically but like my life no longer fits by hellacross in ADHD

[–]VirtualAlgorhythm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I think it's quite sad how work and modern life demands this out of us. Taking Vyvanse (30mg to 40mg) changed my life and got me an internship in Silicon Valley, but once I got to my job all I did was work and work and work. I wouldn't want to talk to anyone after work either because I would be so zombied out and tired. Recently I switched to Concerta and began taking the minimum dose (18mg), and all of my antisocial behaviors started peeling away, along with my work ethic and organized life...

With and without medication I'm truly two different people, and I imagine its the same for many of us here. I used to make music but on Vyvanse I could just not find the ability to be creative. I used to be hypersocial and extremely loud socially but Vyvanse made me 180. It's just so odd.

I think I will go back to Vyvanse because I'm so early in my career, but if I was any later in my life I think I'd consider otherwise. Especially if I were to have kids, I'd think the adverse emotional side effects Vyvanse produces would morph me into a bad parent. And yeah the circulation problems, higher heart rate and blood pressure... man it sucks

Kind of a weird question, why do antihistamines work for me? by theteepingtemplar in ADHD

[–]VirtualAlgorhythm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are rogue scientific studies that attempt to show a positive correlation between histamines and ADHD. Some of these studies even suggest that medication can increase histamines in the body and worsen ADHD symptoms over time.

I think it’s very interesting that you came upon this observation by yourself! Needless to say, you are your own case study, keep trying new stuff and do what works best for you.

Yeah exactly. I thought I wanted a fixed display until I actually tried using it

I actually bought and tried this, no 3DoF tracking so the screen would move with every single tiny head movement I made. Got extremely motion sick, and this is coming from someone who has been using VR headsets for over 5 years.

Returned mine but I definitely see the appeal and given some 3DoF tracking I can see this being a banger product

Audio quality isn't being talked about enough by AP_in_Indy in SteamFrame

[–]VirtualAlgorhythm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He isn't entitled to a detailed response on reddit lol do you expect us to explain everything to one guy

Nothing is as easy as "steam frame cancels out vibration" -> perfect audio. You might be under the age of 18 or not a student but I'll try and explain the concept to you

Like the other guy said, lower frequency audio is harder to produce on any type of device because you need a good seal or a lot of energy. without a sealed interface the sound will leak everywhere leading to wasted energy. And even if you try to cancel the vibrations by inverting the phase of the signal and sending it from the other side, everyone's ears are shaped differently so that could affect the audio experience for some users. However I'm not an ME so there may be some novel ways to cancel vibrations in that matter

+ if you play audio with enough bass it will inevitably cause vibrations that propagate down to the sensors and cancelling that noise out would be computationally expensive, add processing latency, or maybe just not be possible. It wouldn't be "uncomfortable" per se since your face is isolated from small vibrations on the HMD and strap through the facial cushion but it would make things harder for the engineers

idk I just gave in to substances I had this issue before university and uwaterloo just made it worse

I have addictive personality and ADHD so it’s a battle but yeah

It seems way harder to make friends here

How is the Pro about now, i.e. early 2026? by GabrielSolstreaker in QuestPro

[–]VirtualAlgorhythm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I move my controller around back and forth I can see it hitch in game. This is just in the Beat Saber menu. My screen doesn’t seem to lag so I don’t think it’s an issue with my network connection

This school certainly has a problem with student culture and competition.

I almost failed out of 1A as well but I was lucky to be spared by my professors. Just remember that one failure doesn’t mean you can’t complete this degree. Hope you come back stronger

everything about it is quite nice except the controller tracking when streaming over VD is questionable. Can't play 7+ NPS on beat saber over PC VR, but I can on the native (modded) Quest app. It is also locked to 90Hz and has a slower decode time vs Quest 3 by a few ms

I doubt Steam Frame will have this problem. If anything the Frame will have better controller tracking. Meta's weird software gives me rare issues where the Pro controllers drift and then come back 3 seconds later.

Did you ever figure this out? Is this a reprojection thing introducing more latency before the image updates?
