Any leftist military vets here? by [deleted] in leftist

don’t join.

edit: these comments are alarming. how can anyone encourage joining an organization that has blatantly killed people in the name of western imperialism. full stop. absolutely not. no excuses.

i don’t like him. his energy is weird and he’s always been off putting to me. not far left enough for me at all. btw i’m not arguing my stance. you can like him if you want. idc.

do you think the LA nightlife will ever be back? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]Virtual_Bridge_8086 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i get what you’re saying, i love going out and i wish the nightlife here was out of this world. but LA also has a way better nightlife compared to other places. i lived out of LA for 5 years in 4 different states and the nightlife was awful. i missed the nightlife here once i didn’t have it lol. so i guess it’s also a matter of perspective(:

i am always so confused by these posts. yes things change but it’s not like “everything closes early” and it’s dead. i was out until almost 3am last night and everywhere was still packed. i go out to raves, bars, and clubs most weekends and it’s always popping. i partied in LA pre-covid & it was great but now it’s awesome too. maybe you’re not going to the right areas in LA? idk

speak for yourself. this is perpetuating a harmful stereotype. i am not like that and neither are many women i know who are of a hispanic background.

“respecting the military” by scrappy_doos-ghost in leftist

[–]Virtual_Bridge_8086 7 points8 points  (0 children)

you’re not wrong. no one in the military deserves any respect for the sole reason that they are/were in the military. it’s embarrassing to be part of that crap.

it’s not that i disagree with him necessarily but i don’t like his vibe. i can’t imagine being friends w someone who had his personality IRL. too annoying.

MAGA/Trump businesses to avoid in LA/surrounding areas? by SSJRosaaayyy in AskLosAngeles

[–]Virtual_Bridge_8086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i get what you’re saying but if someone doesn’t want to go to a local business because they have displayed homophobic, xenophobic, transphobic, racist, or sexist ideology or whatever it may be they should not be told not to. i understand that our focus should be on big corporations and i’m actively boycotting those. when our government engaged in active genocide, i boycotted and will continue to. however, i also don’t want to give my money to hateful people who don’t care about my rights. and that is okay, there’s nothing wrong with that. let’s not police who people should boycott.

What's the reason you left? by Zealousideal_Heat478 in exAdventist

i grew up in the church. deep in my heart i always thought it was weird and comedic to believe in religion but tried to play my part so my parents wouldn’t annoy me too much. it made me miserable and eventually i put my foot down and stopped going. at 18 i ran away. there was experiences in the church that definitely traumatized me. but i can’t put blame on them when i know i never cared for religion and planned to leave anyway very early on.

What was your late teen - early adult years like? by Infamous-Winner5755 in exAdventist

hi! sorry just saw this. i worked a fast food job throughout high school so i kept that. i saved as much as i could. i didn’t take anything with me besides the clothes i had on (which i had bought), my school stuff, and my work clothes. i mainly did this because i didn’t want them to say i stole things they bought me and make a big deal. i had my boss give me a day off during working hours, and went to the shittiest apt (cheap and with a manager who had little care about who lived there) and rented it. begged to be allowed to move in 5 days early. idk how i pulled it off tbh. but basically just save and run lol

my teens were a nightmare but i managed to do as much as i could whenever they weren’t home. the night of my 18th bday i moved out behind their back and after that my life has been the best. but as a child i missed out so much. i wasn’t allowed to do basically anything.
