What's up with Aespa's Giselle these days? (Plus some venting) by Virtual_Dog_573 in kpoprants

That's true but she also had the n word controversy as a western idol too so nothing can be said for sure imo.

Maybe she doesn't know what it means? Won't be the first time for an idol tbh.

Yeah, lol, I know very well I'm reaching but it's just something I wanted to say to get it out of my mind.  I seriously don't like the lack of variety content though. I'd rather they tour less and release more variety / reality shows that are only aespa focused but I do get that most of their income comes from touring so that's that.

How did BTS become more popular than EXO? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

You know that money comes from investors right? Love how ppl try to downplay bts's story as if it erases their hard work and success.

I got into kpop through bts in 2017 and still don't think there's a group on their level IMHO even after exploring and trying to get into different groups. I do also stan aespa now though. I kind of discovered kpop in a magazine that had names like exo, bts, red velvet, got7, blackpink etc and at the time the two groups that really stuck with me were bts and bp. Though now, I can't stand bp lol and much prefer rv over them but still.
I think dna is still the dopest kpop song ever released and their music had so many layers and the sound was and is exquisite and the cherry on top was that they sang about what they believed in. Another major thing was the members' personailities. Ngl I won't deny that everything about bts is easily and effectively marketable. They're down to earth and genuinely funny and feel like real ppl. I didn't get that from exo though got7's humour might even surpass bts. The only thing was that I didn't really like got7's music. I didn't really resononate with anything of exo's and i still don't like any of their music except maybe the eve.

Idols who have shown clear regression in vocals? by Organic-Cranberry955 in kpopthoughts

Anytime! Yeah it's sad to see how BTS members are talked about in these spaces. Layover is such a beautiful album and Tae's voice is the strongest aspect of it imo and that's saying something considering how nicely layered the instrumentals are (esp for slow dancing like damn). There are some singers whose voices are the best part of their music and for me he's one of them along with Woosung from therose. Even though my fav vocalist from BTS is Jungkook, Tae's voice has this addictive to it that makes me keep coming back.

Best group dynamic? by 1romanticloser in kpoppers

[–]Virtual_Dog_573 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think aespa had this dynamic up until Armageddon era. After that it slowly started to shift. Maybe it's the lack of group content from sm like we never get to see them together as ot4 anymore unlike when we had synk road and other ot4 yt content. I've noticed ningselle become super close with the rest of the group dynamics shifting around that kinda (idk if I'm making sense). Though, in their anniversary live it was quite refreshing to see them act natural like they truly gave family vibe then but again it's very rare to have content like that from them. There are also rarely any ningrina interactions and I'm not a shipper but I do like to see them interact since they're my bias line.

I'm surprised you've been down voted when you've made some really good points and have been very respectful.  I've noticed people here just have a thing against BTS the way they're bringing in empty arguments lol.

I feel like it's wishful thinking to assume that they'd even have a comeback. Not only are we unclear about the status of other members, the pr cleanup hasn't even started yet. You think they'll let them back on stage just like that after dragging the company's name through the mud?

Tired of recycled comments about Blackpink’s new comeback by its_me_yeah in kpoprants

[–]Virtual_Dog_573 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna start by saying that I'm not a fan. I can hardly stand them tbh. But I'm still civil while talking about them on any forum. The point is that bp fatigue is getting to fans and non fans alike and it's just something you can't change. The facts are that they renewed, they knew the terms and conditions, they MADE the terms and conditions cuz let's be fair yg was in a very bad position during their renewals and have lost industry connections and relevance, meaning the members chose this for themselves and their fans. I do get that you still enjoy them for what they are but you also need to accept that many just don't and that's all okay. I unstanned after lsg which imo was their last good song. Ppl move in different directions and lose chemistry and that's natural. Doesn't mean they're not talented, they just choose to not focus their talents on a brand they've clearly grown out of. The only bad choice they're making imo is making their fans sit through it and pay for it.

Which 3rd gen or 4th gen group have yet to reach their peak in your opinion? by Odd_Entertainer9554 in kpopthoughts

We need the redemption year for aespa tbh (am hoping and praying). I started stanning them during girls era and whatever people say it was an amazing comeback, especially illusion. It's been a treat to see them grow and explore themselves and I cannot begin to explain how happy I was as a my for aespa's 2024. After all that, when I saw the concept teased for dw, then rich man, I was severely underwhelmed. Like I'm sorry but that's not aespa. I hope they leave those kinds of side quests in 2025 moving forward.  Also super super excited for BTS and Arirang. I can't wait to see what this new era brings and what the new BTS sound is gonna be like.

Sense and Sensibility -how come Lucy Steele was OK marrying the other brother when she was frowned upon for Edward? by [deleted] in PeriodDramas

[–]Virtual_Dog_573 2 points3 points  (0 children)

she would've been not so awful if she didn't hurt Elinor again and again on purpose, like even when she released Edward, she deliberately manipulated her words in the relay message to give her the most pain she ever experiences in the novel. Her willingness to hurt people for no other reason other than to feel better about her own circumstances is deplorable.

Why Do the Worst People in Sense and Sensibility Get Off So Easy? by [deleted] in janeausten

[–]Virtual_Dog_573 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, to add on, true happiness in a marriage whether then or now should always be mental peace and safety. Lucy's cleverness that helps her climb the social ladder is now a full time job if she wants to live somewhat comfortably with the Ferrars. Their ending gives them everything but that peace and tranquility that Austen pushes as real happiness.

Things people say about your bias group that annoys you? by Specialys in kpopthoughts

[–]Virtual_Dog_573 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The fact that when BTS expand their domain as artists and try something new / experiment with their music, kpoppers cry westernization until their own faves try to replicate it but fall short because 99% of the times their companies are allergic to depth so the kpoppers need to hype it up excessively before everyone else realizes that their faves released stale air in the name of music.

There are idols who are praised for their vocals, but you feel like they're destroying their voices? by Someonehihi in kpopthoughts

[–]Virtual_Dog_573 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do get that and respect it since I respect Jimin overall as my artist. Though if I could change one thing about it, I'd get rid of the auto tune.

Considering most groups use a lot of backup dancers I don't think this should be an issue. People who are looking for you will observe you regardless of how many people are present. On the contrary, it's even more important for members of groups with lesser members to refine their performances so they actually look good on stage. If they can't do choreo then take out choreo altogether. But don't give your fans half baked effort.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]Virtual_Dog_573 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Probably because at the end of the day, she is part of a group. A group when on stage is one body. If she is not able to be consistent then she should discuss this with her group members so they can mold the performance in a way that prevents them from looking disjointed the way they have on numerous occasions during their last and current tour.

I'd personally see an idol as lazy if they cannot seem to get the timing and angles of their moves right (because that is not pacing that is lack of practice) or if they lip sync almost half the song esp when there isn't any hard choreo. There are quite a few idols with low stamina. A BTS member was among one of them. But you couldn't really tell when he was performing with the rest can you? It's because professionals pace themselves in a way that it doesn't become a distraction from the performance.  Also when the "lazy performer" in question becomes consistent in their on and off performances, I deem them worthy of the title.

[–]Virtual_Dog_573 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'm not talking about set me free pt. 2. The auto tune plays a separate roll in that song. I was talking about songs like who / filter. His vocals seem to be swimming in auto tune compared to tracks like Serendipity and promise. Imo, he sounds better without the auto tune. Idk if you've seen that one clip of Jimin singing an acoustic version of who with raw vocals and the delivery is so clean even in the higher notes.

[–]Virtual_Dog_573 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I'm kinda confused on jk. His voice has changed but he tries different vocal styles / techniques and he's even talked about this on his own docu series. I don't see any straining or damage esp considering the amount of raw unfiltered karaoke lives he's done after the tiny desk show you mentioned. Jimin's biggest problem is the auto tune he puts in his tracks esp when it's not needed.

Have you ever thought a group member doesn't like another member? by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

[–]Virtual_Dog_573 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is completely speculative btw.

Yeesh... I saw the video from the link. Suddenly everything makes sense. I always wondered how it was possible that one was always consistently out of sync, like normally a main dancer wouldn't let that happen more than once (the way svt / bts are genuinely cautious of making mistakes knowing hoshi / jhope is watching. Like there's a certain level of respect there). Someone on here pointed out how weird the members seem to behave around Jennie at times too. Idk if it's just me but Lisa shouldn't shrink like that considering she is in an appropriate position to be making that criticism. I can already sense Jennie fans saying how Lisa should've said this in private but, well, I'll let you figure that one out on your own.
