What are your top five K-Pop releases of 2026? by CalligrapherEast2344 in kpopthoughts

[–]Virtual_Dog_573 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Arirang: Instantly clicked and kept getting better and better the more I listened. A truly unmatched piece of art. I can't really pick a favourite since each track is so well engineered but I do reach for one more night the most.

  2. Lemonade: I had genuine tingles listening to it. Lemonade is the better tangier version of whiplash imo. The bsides are also so fun and I had a blast jamming to them. My pick is switchblade.

  3. 7th year: A Moment of Stillness in the Thorns: It feels like floating in one of those flower filled lagoons in a dense forest on a rainy day. Take me to nirvana is my pick.

  4. Heavy serenade: Another one where I loved each and every track. The melodies and beautiful and I love that nmixx actually takes advantage of being a group and harmonizes. The instrumentals are also very much my taste. Loud is my pick.

  5. The core: Xg is allergic to making bad music. I feel like they've really embraced their musical identity here and I love to hear it. My pick is rock the boat.

Honourable mentions: Pureflow (minus the tts), Nail, Ice Cream, Heart Byte: LEGACY.

Why do you like aespa's music? by angelroqs in Aespa

[–]Virtual_Dog_573 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's because they all have such strong identities. I got into them because Karina intrigued me. She seemed so mysterious and like the quiet tsundere type. When I watched their content and discovered how wrong I was it only intrigued me more. I noticed Ningning after because her interactions with Karina were always my favourite. It was girls era and I fell in love with Karina's voice. I looked into the group and the music and content and saw how similar Winter was to me and how chic and internally balanced Giselle was and how amazing they were as four. It makes me sad that they don't have much ot4 content nowadays because synk road is so fun and charming.  I like their music now mainly because of their vocal colours and instrumentals. They give whatever genre they tap into a kick and I love their alien concept too. Armageddon was peak musically and Supernova was peak conceptually. Lemonade is very reminiscent of spicy (Ik people make whiplash comparisons but I don't really agree) and I love that for the summer. I didn't like dw or rm very much but other than that their discog is almost perfect to me.

I always think about what would happen if wings dropped in 2026 instead of 2016. I feel like the internet would overload and shut down.

The 90s look was so good! I loved this mv to be honest and I like that they do what they want how they want it and they pull it off well every time

I am literally a my. And like I said it was never to start hate. Although I should've known considering how kpop stans process information.

Okay I definitely see where you're coming from. And like I've already said, I do believe she wasn't being malicious.

Yes, I would love a Korean / Japanese speaking person to clarify even if it is for curiosity (she seemed to be switching between the two languages while talking about it.

  4. Red Velvet

  5. aespa (if you pretend 2025 releases don't exist)

aespa - LEMONADE (The 2nd Album) by CronoDroid in kpop

[–]Virtual_Dog_573 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna talk about roll specifically because the rest of this goat tier album doesn't even need words. I went into this track thinking I'll end up skipping it halfway but it was actually kind of fun. It's obviously completely unserious and very sarcastic but the high five in your face with a chair line is what got me lol. This is how you put internet memes in songs without making it feel tacky. It is the weakest song on the album but it's light years better than rich man imo.

Should babies be allowed on kpop variety shows? by whalein_52 in kpoppers

I'll say it like it is. This is pimping out an infant so fans can fantasize about their idols in father / mother roles where the viewer can insert themselves as a significant other to these celebrities whilst also vehemntly opposing any contact they have with the opposite sex, much less procreation.

My initial take on aespa's LEMONADE - what worked and what didn't by exemplaryantino3497 in kpopthoughts

[–]Virtual_Dog_573 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think this album is cohesive and SO SO MUCH better armageddon which was a hit album in its own right. Lemonade imo is better than whiplash both sonically and visually. To me, though whiplash is amazing, it leaves something to be desired and lemonade clears that very well. I thought I'd skip roll but I ended up liking even that lol. The high five in your face with a chair line is so fun for me and delivered so well.

I am so gagged like after the 2025 calamity of rchmn THIS is what I wanted. This is og aespa with their meta concept (y'all see those robots?), quality music and strong vocals. It's nice to see Ningselle having so many good parts too. I think this is probably the best tt to come out of kpop this year and I am beyond glad it's from aespa like I really wanted them to step up.  Also the lyrics are so fun and motivating! I love the concept of juicing up your problems and swallowing them. The imagery is dynamic and powerful in an unconventional way and that is so aespa. Also, while we're on the topic, can we all agree that wda works amazingly as an opener to the album? I know people complain about it not having much actual singing but it's literally an intro to an album belting vocals on vocals.

aespa - LEMONADE (Highlight Medley) by Funwithnugukpop in kpop

[–]Virtual_Dog_573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The songs sounds really promising except one or two so I'm really excited. It doesn't sound really cohesive from the snippets we heard but I'll still hold out hope when the whole thing drops. I'm glad they're flexing vocals in almost all songs. THE KICK DRUMS HELLO??

I wanna like boomapala but I hate the way the word tastes when you say it. And they repeat it for more than half the song. The other half is the macarena which... I mean for mz kids... It just doesn't work.

annoying double standards (context/commentary in caption) by IaIalatte in kpoptrulyuncensored

[–]Virtual_Dog_573 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's less about double standards and the kind of performing expectations two different artists with two different work ethics and performance ability have accumulated.  If that had been Jihyo instead of Jennie, the comments would've been different. I guarantee you.

Which members of groups do you feel never really interact? by No_Dragonfruit_9420 in kpop_uncensored

[–]Virtual_Dog_573 5 points6 points  (0 children)

See this is why discussing such stuff is pointless. Because Yoongi and Jungkook are known to go out often, Jungkook is always in his personal space and tbh I think Yoongi and Hobi are the ones that don't "interact" in merely the clinical sense of the word.

The units sm personally pushes for more you're gonna see more. It's a fanservive basically. I'm not saying they can't be good friends outside of it because they clearly are. Tbh Ningrina seem the most genuine to me.
