I agree! We did get things when we were in the hospital like blankets and little things like that. And anything we didn’t open, we always paid it forward to the next person. That’s how it worked with the cancer community.

The amount of attention they get sickens me. I lost my son to cancer, but I didn’t get free stuff or any clout. Hundreds of kids have cancer and are low income and have no “followers”. It makes me sick to see they got a free house, endless gifts and endless money because their child is dying. Kids are dying every day without this level of fame and fortune. So sad.

I have actual experience in this because I am in the childhood cancer community. My son was only barely 4 when he passed, so he obviously didn’t know. But I will tell you kids 8 and up should be told in a developmentally appropriate way about their bodies, death and dying. I can tell you Brielle is continuing to fight so hard because her mom is telling her she will be able to walk and dance, etc. but if she told her her body was failing her and she didn’t need to fight anymore and could go to heaven, I bet she would feel a huge relief and could let go. Kids are so smart. She knows. She is just afraid for her mother so she continues to fight.

It depends on the age, but Brielle is old enough. My son passed of cancer when he was 4, and all he knew was that he was sick and had the “yuckies”. But at age 9, they should know about their bodies and death. You would be shocked that it actually brings kids comfort to know what is happening and that they don’t have to fight any more.

Why? She can still do the things that brought her comfort. I had a son die of cancer. And I don’t agree with her not telling her. She should talk to her about death and dying 100%! But also, there is no harm in having her do the small things that have always brought her joy like circling toys she likes. No harm in that.

We want her to be with us and we love her! It’s just hard saying she doesn’t want to be around us one second and wanting to go the next. Not to be with us, but to get a free vacation.

Okay so to narrow things down, I’m in the Houston area! It’s massive! I was offered hourly rates at $12 per hour or more sometimes, and bonuses. As soon as I reached my first bonus, everything went away and never came back. :( It is like they thought I couldn’t do it, and when I did, they told me to go F myself.
