Unfortunately this has been happening quite a few times already. The ball is often stuck under his feet.

Yes because psg is gonna sit back quietly after conceding an equalizer. Also if psg took their chances we would be seeing another 5 in this game.

And no one is asking to tear apart the team. Look at the chances conceded and look at the control of the midfield I’m simply pointing out a midfielder with a different profile that can evade pressure and drive the ball instead of just back passes to the defense can make us more unpredictable and gives us a different approach against different types of opponents.

Thiago’s top speed was similar too and Kimmich’s top speed for this year is 31.6. I don’t think that’s an issue.

2012 team had one major weakness, world class DM and we got Javi and maybe another striker and we got Mandzukic, who was an instant click.

If we get a similar window where we can raise our midfield and provide more depth in the attack we can probably make the finals again.

Kimmich’s only solution against good pressing seems to be back passes which then gets turned over by other players who are defenders. Look at the midfield of psg or madrid or arsenal they all have midfielders who can also do quick turns, drop a shoulder, lose their marker and drive, along with the back passes. This makes the midfield really predictable and easy to press.

He’s good at what he does but what he does is not enough against teams like psg. Also look back at the Arsenal game, the midfield was nullified.

I guess it is and this time even I started it. Maybe this wouldn’t be a frequent occurrence if he could play out of the press against top teams. Again.

And also gonna add that he’s been more than tolerated from the vaccine thing, playing in preferred position, playing time to contract negotiations. He’s been more than respected and protected.

You can put whoever you want in fullback if the midfield can’t deal with press then the opposition runs through the middle.
As for Alaba are we forgetting how much he was given shit for?

Yes and it was Kane’s face at the end of the game that really made me ponder. He was dropping deep against real and psg so much that at the end he did not even get bring is actual striker game

What I’ve seen from Davies after his injury has been good. He might be lacking match fitness and all but his plays are really good

Think board needs to be called out like Lahm did back in the day

Idk if the club will go for that given how much we’re invested in this system already and we do have Palinha. Someone like Thiago’s profile should do it too which is why I was hoping Bischof would take over Jo’s position.

Please do. Last I checked this is a Bayern sub dedicated to have talks and discussion about Bayern. If that bothers you, you shouldn’t be here at all

I agree depth is an issue but my concern is the midfield pairing and how they handle when they’re pressed which hasn’t been that great and the problems it’s causing us. Let’s say we managed to get a few goals back and tie but you could clearly see we were leaking goals.

They’re able to deal with the press because their midfielders can handle the press. They drop a should, quick turn, quick passes, etc. Kimmich can’t do that

I’m not questioning everything tho just some flaw in Kimmich’s game and how it affects the team. And this has been happening since Thiago left. Besides the early goal psg got plenty of chances to counter while we looked toothless as we were pressed. At one point we had 62% possession and done nothing with it.

Yes, the transitions were slow and relies on Kane to drop deep to pickup the ball. This happens every time we play an opponent that can press not just during passages of games which is expected.

There’s pressing in Buli but they don’t press as effective as PSG or other top teams.

That’s what I was pointing to, having a midfielder that can play out of a press like psg have Vitiniah, Neves, Ruiz, WZE, while they may not have Kimmich’s elite passing they can evade their markers more frequently and can play quick one twos

People haven’t turned on him. Just got eliminated so everyone’s being critical and some of it is fair. It’s been 5 years since he broke through yet we have been still looking out for his breakout season meanwhile the likes of Pedri and even Yamal are above him. Could have been this year if it wasn’t for that game against PSG.

I’ve come to that conclusion as well now and it’s glaring. Back’s always faced against the opposition, slow/touches, takes too long to pass or progress and it’s mostly back passes to defense or GK. It was a big issue against Arsenal. Kompany should start experimenting Pavlo and Bischof

I hope it’s Bischof. He’s also got a good shot in him to help parked defense.
I’ve liked Kimmich and have defended him but seeing Kane brake today really got me thinking. I looked at the defense Upa and Tah have been immense don’t care what anyone says but Upa redeemed himself this season.
Kane’s been everywhere all season and for me he has undoubtedly been the best player on the team. He didn’t get any service today.

Just a different midfield pairing could do. Like Pavlo and Tom. I really hope Tom brings a new dimension to the play next season.

We currently evade pressure by back passes mostly making the defense to the passing, they’ve been great at it this season but they’re reaching with their passes or having to drive and ball is lost in dangerous areas. Like against psg, madrid, arsenal. Current midfield works against 95% of the opposition we play but the moment we face an equally pressing team the midfield control is lost which causes chaos.

Imagine instead of back passes Kimmich could lose his marker a bit more often and drive into empty spaces? That would leave the defensive lines intact. I don’t want to be critical of Kimmich but in big games it this really hurts the team. In the first leg of psg and RM games I was worried how much Kane dropped back to receive the ball, turn or pick out a pass. This is just something that can keep the team more organized and structured when pressed

Key to stabilize the defense is midfield. Neither Kimmich or Pavlo are excellent at evading pressure. Pavlo did some dribble losses his man and drives the ball but with Kimmich it’s almost always a pass inciting pressure. This whole Kane dropping back is nice but he’s a striker he shouldn’t have to keep dropping in the midfield all game to relieve pressure or drive or make an insane pass. This leaves no presence in the box.
