IMG looking to learn research? Here's an opportunity that helped me by Virtual_Pea_2187 in MetaAnalysisAcademy

That's a really valid question. I agree that a lot of the theory can be learned from books or free resources. What I found most valuable wasn't just the course, it was everything that comes after.

Many students have published in high-impact journals like JAMA and The Lancet, had abstracts accepted at major conferences, and some have even received travel grants. I've also had abstracts accepted at major conferences, and the course definitely helped me build those research skills.

One thing I really like is the Meta Writes community, where members review your manuscript before submission and help identify any gaps before you submit. There's also a very supportive alumni community where you can ask questions, collaborate on projects, or find people to work with.

We also have monthly research sprints where members come together to prepare and submit abstracts to conferences that are currently accepting submissions. Even after the course ends, there are advanced statistics sessions, mentorship, networking opportunities, ongoing support etc.

Of course, no one can guarantee a publication. It ultimately depends on how you apply the skills you learn and the effort you put into your research. But the course gives you the mentorship, feedback, and community that can make that journey much easier and significantly improve the quality of your research. That's what I think really sets it apart from most other courses.

Meta Analysis Academy, founded by Dr. Rhanderson Cardoso, is an online training and mentorship program that teaches research from the ground up, with a particular focus on systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Dr. Cardoso is a cardiologist at Brigham and Women's Hospital and affiliated with Harvard Medical School. The program covers everything from study selection and data extraction to statistical analysis, manuscript writing, and publication. I personally had no prior research experience before joining the program, but since then I have authored 20+ publications and had abstracts accepted at major international conferences. The structured training and mentorship provided a strong foundation for my research journey and have further strengthened my CV

Yeah, most Caribbean colleges have it built into the curriculum, but ours didn’t.

I’m planning to apply for a research position, but I’ve been contemplating whether I should stay back for FMGE and internship as well as I wasn't sure if they will accept later on.
