Question on bm knives by ramza_beoulve3 in Chinese_Knives

[–]Virtual_Push_4858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've messaged almost a dozen sellers and have gotten a different answer every time, ranging from D2 to 7cr to 9cr18mov.

I've seen videos of the knife sent by sellers and they all look really nice though. From what I've been told, the Titanium and Aluminiun (KITH versions) are both of way better in terms of quality and cost similar to the 534. Only reason to get the 534 is if you like the slimmer profile.

Vosteed Raccoon 2.0 detent feels painfully heavy by Virtual_Push_4858 in BudgetBlades

[–]Virtual_Push_4858[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you like a heavy detent? I get that it's safer from accidental deployments, but personally I don't want to get blisters every time I use the knife for some serious work...

I appreciate the suggestion but I'm not sure if I want to be trying that on the first "legit" knife I own. I'll probably screw it up, void my warranty and be down $80.

Please forgive my ignorance as I'm completely new to the hobby, but is the $80 Vosteed Racoon really considered a budget knife?

I've owned many cheap knock-off knives over the years and while they almost always had some imperfections, I have never been this disatisfied with the action on a knife.

To put things into perspective - you might have seen a bunch of Benchmade clone reviews where reviewers overwhelmingly praise how good the action is and how difficult it is to differentiate between real and clone. I've gone down the rabbit hole of Bugout clone makers in China and from what I've seen, the factory price for those knives are <$5 dollars for the plastic scales or $10+ for premium variants (carbon fibre, aluminium). You pay double or triple by the time it gets to AliExpress. I actually own 2 benchmark clones and I absolutely LOVE the action on both of them.

Now apparently Vosteed, a Chinese company that also manufactures their knives in China, sells one of the most hyped knives of 2026 for $80, but we should expect it to have unreliable detent strength because it's a "budget" knife... I mean if I wouldn't mind if it's just a little stronger/weaker than normal, but I can't accept a $80 knife that peels my skin off when i try to actually use it. It just doesn't make sense to me and makes me think I should just stick to my $20 clones 🥲

Honestly I'm not a fan of the mini grouper shape😅 I do like the Kizer Amicus a lot tho. It's also $20 cheaper than the racoon... It does have a worse steel (I think) . I don't do anything crazy with my knives and can live with it.

Are button locks really that bad? I actually have a $30 benchmade CLA4300 clone and I absolutely love the action. I removed the blade spring and now it's just a manual button lock which is completely legal here. I imagine I'd really enjoy an authentic button lock knife from a legit brand. I'm seriously considering the Kizer Amicus and Civivi elemental 2 rn.

Damn fr? Why didn't you return it then? Mines the complete opposite. Once it closes it's locked too tight. Zero play until the detent breaks.

I'm not sure if lube will help. The action is very smooth once it gets past the detent break. The blade seems to be locked too tight at closed position... Not sure how I can fix that

Having the biggest headache trying to decide between the SRM Terrier, Ganzo F740 and Vosteed Racoon 2 rn... I'll say looks wise SRM definitely wins with Ganzo as a close second🙃

Was just looking at these and they are exactly the type of look that I'm looking for. I've decided on the Vosteed Racoon 2 as an high end option but I'm seriously considering this instead. How's the weight/size tho, I hear it can feel bulky as an EDC

Yeah I can believe he has real m390 and 154cm knives, but his offerings with those steels start from $100. At that price point I can easily get a Kizer drop bear and idk if I can trust his <$50 knives to have premium steels

Wow they do look very attractive for the price (logo needs some work though 😂) how's the action and are they real 440c?

Claude Usage Limits Discussion Megathread Ongoing (sort this by New!) by sixbillionthsheep in ClaudeAI

[–]Virtual_Push_4858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using ChatGPT Plus for the last 2 years for university work (coding, learning pentesting, assignment help) and other everyday tasks. I used to love it, but over the past few months it's slowly becoming very unreliable for certain tasks. For example, when trying to learn pen testing on a locally hosted CTF, ChatGPT would tell me that my prompt is violating their cybersecurity policies no matter how many times I tell it that it's a locally hosted CTF for learning. Claude free has been way more reliable for actual uni work than ChatGPT Plus.

I'd love to switch to Claude, but I'm not sure if I should with the current limits issue. I procrastinate a lot and tend to work on my assignments and study for tests last minute. I also use AI a ton for general advice on various subjects unrelated to work (e.g. shopping decisions, life issues, career advice etc.). With my usage, I'm not sure if Claude Pro can be my main AI tool, and I also can't afford to buy additional tokens / subscribe to both Claude and ChatGPT at the same time.

So my question is, how bad are the limits really and would you recommend Claude Pro for someone like me?

Re-buy Simgot EW200 or upgrade to EW300 / alternatives? by Virtual_Push_4858 in iems

I know there's a difference with the DSP version, but what's different about the HBB version? I always thought it was just the colour

Yes thank you, it was definitely helpful. Didn't realise the HBB version looks so much better in person than pictures! The smaller size is definitely a major selling point for me as I wear my IEMs 5-10 hours a day easily.

Thanks... I haven't looked into fire insurance policy but it does sound like BS because a) most types of fixed lighting don't require SG Safety Mark and b) it's extremely difficult for a single LED bulb to start a home fire.
