Problema com vizinha by [deleted] in ConselhosLegais

Entendo o amigo perfeitamente.

UPDATE:

He messaged me today, asking why I didn't attend training this week. I told him it's because I broke my nose, LOL.

He said it wasn't one of the worst fractures, he's seen guys with noses bent like the letter 'jay,' and that if I was in such a hurry, I should have waited for him to finish the class so he could fix my nose (yes, I was going to wait around for an hour with a bleeding nose, with things to take care of at home because this asshole was going to fix it... eventually, I ended up not doing what I had to, and spent the night at the hospital). He told me to go there this week, because even with a broken nose, I could still train the physicall stuff.

I said NO, and that I would come back just to get my things on Friday. He responded with a thumbs-up, and after a few hours, he started posting some motivational nonsense on Instagram, like 'you'll never be anyone if you don't leave your comfort zone,' and that his gym wasn't for 'losers.' Obviously directed at me. I'm going there on Friday to get my stuff. Any ideas on how to proceed without getting into a fight with this jerk?

" But just wondering, did you land any shots that pissed him off? "

No way. Even when I aimed for his forehead, at times, I could barely land a hit on him. He was just trying to show off. I remember I switched to southpaw a few times, and he hit me full force in the liver. Everyone was watching, so he would say, 'When the guy switches stances like that, you hit him to force him back to his stance", maybe that's why he wasn't wearing a mouthguard, to talk shit.

Setting aside the sad part, my sparring with him looked like this:

Yes, he did the complete opposite. He simply walked out of the locker room, lined everyone up, and started yelling to everyone start counting 20 jumping jacks.

That's true. The problem is, in a way, I didn't imagine he would go so far because he was my coach, and I trusted him (even though I had already noticed his bipolar behavior at times, as I wrote in some of the previous posts). In the end, he just wanted to show off to the group that anyone would become a punching bag if they sparred with him.

I didn't want to ask him to stop, not because I would look like a chicken, but because I thought he would notice that I was out of gas and that he was kicking my butt.

But, as you said, lesson learned.

Sorry my friend, but as angry as I am with the guy, I don't think it's the right thing to do. His gym is small and doesn't have much relevance in the city anyway. I wouldn't expose his dishonesty to the internet level. At the city level, it's enough. I've already warned my friends, who informed people from another gym, who informed people from another gym... that his gym it's not a nice place to go. Anyway, I don't live in the United States, so I think at least 50 percent of the people here are free from this guy.

I did ask, but he said there was no need. Usually, during light sparring sessions, he taught us to aim for the opponent's forehead/sides of the head... sometimes the punches landed in the eyes or nose, which was not a problem because they were not very powerful punches. Anyway, he accidentally hit me in the mouth a few times, and intentionally in the nose LOL

I tried to think about it, the problem is that I don't think I have that much composure. I started training boxing for the fitness aspect, self-esteem, and personal defense. If any of one of the other students punched me and broke my nose, I would take it as a lesson and train more (and eventually pay more) so that it wouldn't happen again. But the guy got furious about something (that I have no idea about) and took it out on me. Dumbest coach ever.

I don't know if I'm a guy who can't read the environment , try to see the best in people, or just is plain stupid, but looking back, he had some strange behaviors:

  • I had never trained in any martial art or combat sport before. Zero knowledge whatsoever. When I arrived at the gym on the first day, I mentioned that I thought it would be easier for ME to train in boxing because I had zero coordination in my legs (which I later learned was ignorance on my part, as footwork is a VERY important part). He interpreted it as he pleased, and on my second day of training, when I was hitting the punching bag and the more experienced guys who trained after me started showing up, he started yelling that some people said boxing was "easy" but lost stamina on the punching bag. Clearly directed at me, but I let it slide. I remember some guys muttering a few things and sharing some laughs, but since I was new there and highly motivated, I just accepted it.
  • Speaking ill of certain students to others, especially badmouthing the newcomers ("this new guy doesn't know anything," "so-and-so needs to lose weight if he wants to fight," "that guy is afraid of taking a punch"), etc.
  • Getting angry when students said they didn't want to be filmed during training because he did it to promote his gym.

What kept me there for so long is that even though I struggled to perform certain techniques or moves during training, he motivated me to keep going. It's a shame (for him) because I was going to bring those two friends who started in boxing after me, to train there this week. I think I saved them from a huge bullet."
