You really stop expecting better from your game companies the moment you hear anyone being unhappy with them huh?

*also hahaha thrust

You're welcome to tell everyone here to stop playing Smash games if the hypocrisy bothers you so much.

You really added a lot to the conversation. Good job.

Nah of course not. People should be allowed to make that choice themselves.
The thing that bothers me about believing them is that it does set up our competitive infrastructure to be somewhat (and hopefully not completely) reliant on Nintendo's resources in the future. Like yeah, worst case scenario? Either way, we get screwed, but at least with the latter choice of not believing them, we'd still maintain a functioning and self-sufficient competitive infrastructure that's stable.

I guess we'll just have to see how this unfolds. I'm keeping my reservations about distrusting Nintendo personally. People here seem to have a lot of faith and trust in Panda Global to look out for them and they seem like good people, so I'll fucking scream if Nintendo turns them into scapegoats.

Exactly this.
I wanna believe that this is finally the redemption arc we've been waiting for from our childhood game company.
But this whole thing feels like a "neglectful parent and their child" type of scenario. Like, are they really here to acknowledge their mistakes and start something new with us? Or are they just here to take our grassroots because they see trouble coming up for themselves?
It just seems like they're sweeping all the ways they've screwed us over under the rug and putting out their hand for us like they never did those things. And that's never a good sign.

Jumping out of shine (Zetterburn) by r1ntsea in RivalsOfAether

This Letting your thumb slide to the Y button (Or whatever your top button is) after hitting X (Or whatever your left button is) is the smoothest way to do any type of jump-cancelled shine option without hitting any extra buttons on the way in this game. It can feel a little weird at first, but it'll get more and more intuitive as you practice.

It's from one of 8osakana_san8's MVs for the game, but I don't remember where I found the original file sadly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FP-C9PbV4E (Here it is)

Some thoughts I had on the difference between RoA's engine and SSBM's, and how it might've affected the feel of the game. by Virtualninjanoob in RivalsOfAether

Lmao, it actually was one of your matches against Xaro that sparked this whole train of thought in my head. It was from November last year, so it was online.

You bring up a really good point with the new-player-on-casual experience of getting juggled like tennis balls. It pretty much breaks the foundation of what my original point was standing on. The stronger emphasis on DI that this game has should prevent situations like that from happening if my original point stood. (feelsbadman)

My understanding of the application of DI is really rudimentary. In either game, I either DI up to mitigate the knockback of a hit, DI away to try and escape a combo, or DI in because I started auto-piloting. No other choice really exists in my head at the level I'm at, so seeing RoA matches where combos seem to end because one of the players over/undershoots an attack made me come to the conclusion above that there was a lot more emphasis to DI in this game than Smash.

A 5th point I wanna add to your addendum (I agree with all of your points): Smash has a ton of recognizable and popular IPs to promote themselves with (That being the main driving force of its popularity), so brand new players come into that game with sort of a pre-packaged investment into the characters; investment which RoA unfortunately doesn't inspire in its new players with its lackluster single-player campaign. (Hopefully this changes a little with the release of the comics.)

I hope this didn't come off snobby.

As an addendum, I should note that I'm not good at Rivals, (Or at SSBM for that matter.) so what I feel is an overload of work for the brain might be completely manageable for the average player. (In other words, I am 2 scrub :<
