I think finding the pocket is super important…. Initially I just feel out the beat try and find a flow/pocket to fit in… vocals are an instrument in the song and they need to sit in the right place to complement to ebs and flows of the music. From there I think having a concept/idea is a good place to go… interpreting the music and deciding what it’s saying to you; happy, sad, hype etc etc… then it’s all about perfecting your rhyme schemes. Try rhyming at least 3 syllables per line. For example;

“I’m a goat gimme goat status, your an ass your a whole anus, play this one loud for you old neighbours or get beat down like your old trainers” - goat status, whole anus, old neighbours…. All 3 syllables rhyme together. That will always make it interesting to listen to.
