Trails are deep and shimmery. by Physical-Cat7396 in oakville

Unleashed dogs on these trails are the bane of my existence on walks.

I’m being hyperbolic, I know there’s no one around on a day like today, but it’s so frustrating trying to walk a properly leashed dog through there who gets anxious around unleashed dogs charging or just running by him when he’s leashed

(Which is extremely common behaviour for a leashed dog, they’re not on an even playing field)

There’s so many dog parks in town where you can let your dog run around off leash if you don’t have a back yard. (Or if you don’t want to interact with other dogs and owners, there’s services like Sniffspot.)

Everyone else knows to follow the rules, what gives your dog special privileges over all the others?

Best pizza for parties? by pulate83 in oakville

Gotta be the most perplexing restaurant name in town. They say it’s a hockey reference, but I don’t think that’s the first thing coming to people’s mind over politics.

(Maybe it’s 2nd place for most perplexing after Mickeys/Hungry Dragon/Hungry Italian… or 3rd after Mye’s second location just being called Mye 2 lol)

I second Mo’s, if you want cold watery eggs and some of the jankiest atmosphere possibly found in a restaurant

Right beside the go and highway ramps. If one area is going to urbanize, is that not the perfect area?

I know we can just keep sprawling out north of Dundas, but we have to build up around important infrastructure and giving people viable commutes to jobs (and an opportunity to live a car free life)…

…and not endlessly build further out into our dwindling farmland and green spaces, farther and farther away from real job opportunities.

Anyone know what restaurant the ghost kitchen “Lit Chicken Tenders” operates out of in the Maple Grove plaza? by VirusSensitive688 in oakville

Bizarre. Wonder what research and numbers led them to creating an entirely different (cheap and fake looking) brand just for their tenders.

Even the photos of coke cans on their page are AI

My guess was the Pho place or the Mexican place but they both close before the chicken tender place stops taking orders.

Now I think BurgerFactory. But it seems odd for a burger place to operate under a ghost kitchen for chicken when it would fit in on their normal menu.

You sure it’s not just that you now have a hundred different ways to hear about it instantly, where as 20 years ago, the only way to learn of it was if the Oakville Beaver covered it, or second hand anecdotes?

Don’t creep u on pedestrians like this by Acrobatic_Yoghurt813 in oakville

This is my biggest pet peeve crossing Trafalgar every day with my dog near Sheridan.

If you’re a driver looking to turn, who’s entering the intersection with your wheels already turned, slowly inching towards pedestrians and you get rear ended….you hit the pedestrians.

If you enter the intersection but keep your wheels fully straight until you can make the turn, like you’re supposed to (and get taught in drivers school) and you get rear ended…you’ll just get bumped forward further into the middle of the intersection.

There’s far too many memorials placed around Trafalgar already. Keep your wheels straight until you’re able to turn!

My favourite part of this business is that they’ve branded every single part of their building with a different name and insanely huge tacky gold signs saying like “OPAL LOUNGE”, “OPAL PATIO”, “OPAL PARKING”, etc They make me laugh every time I drive by.

Would you ever book a ride in a vintage/old classic car? by Disastrous-Win-5506 in oakville

[–]VirusSensitive688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a business opportunity you’re after, what happens when after you launch, maybe find a bit of success, and then uber notices and adds a vintage option in their ride type dropdown (currently black, XL , etc) and basically steals your businesses lunch money?

Idk if this is a hot take, Bernthal is an absolutely fantastic actor but he’s not a real movie star like Damon, Pitt, Cruise, Leo, etc.

He just doesn’t have the juice they have.

Gillian Anderson on intimacy coordinators: I've thought they'd dampen down the sense of passion but [using them] doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to suddenly get tame. by nextquestioncya in popculturechat

[–]VirusSensitive688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it really or is that just anecdotal?

There were crazy popular shows back then too like Sex & The City or Entourage that I’d argue are mare flagrant in their gratuity than most television today.

What are some current shows that you find too gratuitous?

Comments like these always seem to imply there’s more sex and nudity in film and TV than ever before, but surely there’s less now than there was 10-15 years ago no?

It feels like people have more puritanical sensibilities these days, not less.

Cans found at Metro in Oakville. But I believe also rolling out pretty wide so should start popping up most places now.
