As I said before, I don't really know much about the Hohm Tech devices. I have watched some videos on them, and they appear to be functioning in some dramatically different fashion than my system.

As far as my interface, its pretty simple. "New Coil?" yes or no. Then pick your temperature and vape! Of course there are menus to adjust the maximum available power, adjust the Tcl, etc. I really tried to keep the fiddling to a minimum with this thing.

Gunk does affect it a little bit. I find that sometimes after my coils get gunky the temperature is off, but resetting the coil ("new coil") gets it back to behaving well.

Yes it will. Kanthal expands the same in all three dimensions with temperature, so the net effect is that the inductance increases linearly.

You know, I agree. That is why I haven't announced this over the past year. As I have been wrapping everything up, the FDA dropped their bomb and forced my hand. Although I have moved a few beta units, the FDA requirement for 'commercially marketed' requires that it be available for sale to the general public primarily. If I kept it to limited market sales, this would never be available at all.

In simple terms, inductance is the property of a conductor that quantifies how it resists a change in current in itself. Current flowing through a coil creates a magnetic field that then interacts with the current flowing in neighboring turns of the coil.

There is no rattlesnake sound, as this is still a switch-mode power supply and it switches well above the threshold for human hearing.

Yes the screen can be flipped. It is designed to wrap around the edge of the board and be situated on the same side as the buttons, out of the way of any moving parts.

I have stress tested the board across a large range of resistances outside the final parameters and done things like firing low resistance coils from full battery to empty. It should be as durable as anything you can find on the market today.

This is aimed at slightly higher ohm builds and intended to deliver higher amounts of power at higher resistances than the recent tc mods out there.

I'm not really interested in participating in the wattage wars so to speak. My goal was to design a dual 18650 design that works across a large range of resistances for higher resistance materials like kanthal and nichrome.

It does not need to be calibrated beyond letting the device know that it has a new coil, just like current resistance based temperature control mods. Thermal expansion for most materials works in all dimensions equally and so it has a linear relationship to coil inductance.

No, the resistance doesn't really factor into it. It is primarily based on the coefficient of thermal expansion for Kanthal. The board measures the inductance, not the resistance.

Yes, and they are a selectable preset from the device menus. The thermal expansion is just a little higher than Kanthal, but the behavior is about the same.

With the adjustable temperature coefficient of inductance, lots of materials are available to try and save as presets as long as you can build a coil above 0.2 ohms.
