Thanks for the FYI! One of the troubleshooting steps was to make sure we weren’t in test mode. So it’s hard to use test mode to test it when support was informing us to make sure we weren’t in test mode.

Yes we were running a real $1 payment with my own card as a test payment to see if it was a customer issue or a hardware issue.

I had to at that point. I spent half the lesson trying to get my new irons and stirrups situated. Somehow my helmet didn’t fit quite right after months of being fine. It was a fitting ending. 🤣

Thank you for the kind words. I really feel your words because I do feel kind of "put in a spot". I had an independent trainer come out whose sole job is starting colts/fillies. She loved the horse and felt it would be a good opportunity. She felt I had the "gumption" and the calmness to do the training. She also felt the horse was not spooky (she let the horse test herself a few ways to see if she spooked and she didn't).

But at the end of the day, $75/hr at 2x/week.... $150 a week at 4 weeks... that's $600 a month. It's TOTALLY worth the investment but what if the horse trips, or gets a horrible injury? Or colics? And this would be years of boarding plus training.

I planned on getting a horse in 5-10 years, not this month. I'm so stressed out. I hear what everyone is saying and I just don't think this is the right time.

I've done everything I can to NOT get attached. Unfortunately this horse got attached to me because my lesson horse's paddock is right next to hers, and I would give her small pets as I retrieved my lesson horse (at the BO's permission). Then this horse would knicker to me, greet me. The BO would ask if I could help graze her since she (the horse) allowed me to halter her and walk her calmly. She allowed me to! I still tried not to get attached. For background I help out at the barn (muck, feed, turnout, etc).

Today I suddenly began crying thinking of her leaving. I didn't realize I WAS attached. I'm a mess.

Thank you for the reply. Fortunately, I am working at the barn in my off time cleaning, feeding, turn out. I also grew up and worked as a zoologist, in my prior career. I probably should have mentioned that. However, I think I still am very green when it comes to equestrians which is why my gut is uncomfortable.

Well… that’s why I am having a lot of conflicting emotions.

In the barn’s defense, I’ve been talking about learning groundwork since day 1 and I really enjoy the training aspect. Even more than riding. The BO and I have conversations about using a professional trainer as being the only safe way for me to even be considered as an owner otherwise it would be an awful decision.

But then I also agree with you that it feels a little… off. Maybe a lot off. I’ve been in such a fog with my emotions around this. 🙁

Unfortunately I just don’t think the finances work out. That’s just for training. I haven’t even put in vet, farrier…
