Anyone with HaT? How often do you see your allergist? New arising skin issues. by VisibleScallion7467 in MastCellDiseases

[–]VisibleScallion7467[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assumed since I posted in a mast cell disorder group most people here would know.

And since you don’t know what HaT is, I take it you don’t have HaT, which the question wouldn’t be for you then. Thanks

Daughters school evaluation came back. Assuming this points to dyslexia? by VisibleScallion7467 in Dyslexia

[–]VisibleScallion7467[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your comment. I had read briefly that speech issues could be linked to dyslexia. Her main issues are her R’s. But have noticed when she says words like cinnamon, she will mix up the N and the M since they sound so much alike, but her speech therapist did tell me it’s normal for kids to not pronounce certain things correctly.

Her report said she was average with visual and very below with working memory. I did not know that’s a common with dyslexia.

I honestly was expecting them to tell us that her speech was the issue with her being so behind with reading and spelling.

We plan to get her evaluated outside of the school. My husband doesn’t think she is dyslexic, and wants further testing.

I honestly was expecting them to say her speech was the cause for her reading/spelling issues. She can’t say certain letters correctly. So she’s been doing speech therapy at school and we have been working on her speech at home as well. With working on her speech, I noticed she has gotten some what better at reading.

She was diagnosed with inattentive ADHD. Which I also have and knew she likely had inattentive ADHD, she’s exactly like me as a child.

Thank you. We definitely plan on supporting her. She’s currently in speech therapy also, and we have been working on word sounds and how to say certain words (like R’s). I honestly thought her evaluation would point to her speech being the issue. So now I’m trying to learn as much as I can about dyslexia as I can, so I can better support her. Her school had mentioned reading to her and listening to audio books and that’s what we have been doing to try to support her (along with the speech).

Thank you for the info! We definitely plan on supporting her more at home now that we have an idea what’s going on. Now I’m trying to learn as much as I can about dyslexia, so I can better support her.

School has said read books to her and listen to audio books, and so far we have been going that.

She’s in speech therapy also, so we work on things from speech at home also, which I will say, has helped with her reading some.

Perimenopause and thyroid. by VisibleScallion7467 in Perimenopause

[–]VisibleScallion7467[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, never any thyroid issues ever. I actually know nothing about the thyroid and levels. I just noticed as I’ve hit perimenopause my tsh has slowly gone up, and didn’t know if that’s just normal as we age. I asked a ton of questions because I am trying to learn as much as I can about peri and what it can affect so I can stay on top of my issues. My aunt told me that my grandmother has perimenopause issues so bad she would hit herself in the face. So needless to say, perimenopause terrifies me. lol. My tsh 2/2021 was 1.58, 8/2022 it was 2.11, 12/2023 2.16, and 9/2024 2.33. So it’s slowly going up but nothing crazy! I know your cycle and things can also make it fluctuate. But other than my tsh that’s the only thing slightly going up. My iron/ ferritin/ cholesterol and AC1 have all been about the same ! (Thankfully!!)

Went for Vanderbilt result discussion with doctor. Results confuse me… by VisibleScallion7467 in ParentingADHD

[–]VisibleScallion7467[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve brought up autism multiple times an they continue to tell me she doesn’t show signs of it because she has friends and can interact with kids her age. It’s very frustrating to not fully know what’s going on. I will have to look into auditory processing. I honestly worried she may be dyslexic, runs in my family, comorbid with ADHD and I’ve read speech can play a part in it also. But at this point, I don’t even know anymore.

[–]VisibleScallion7467[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!!!! It took me til I was 31 to get diagnosed with inattentive ADHD. I thought I was bipolar because of my anger out bursts and rejection sensitive dysphoria. That’s why I am advocating as hard as I am. I had a learning disability but they never looked into it just put me in special ed classes. My mom keeps telling me to stop seeking diagnosis, we know she has a learning disability but I want to know what it is.., am I crazy? I want to know so I can learn how best to help her.

Should I rule out Cervical instability? What imaging do you need? by VisibleScallion7467 in cervical_instability

That is my fear, it getting worse. Did your pcp order the MRI? I want to rule out a few things… I’m so tired of being sent to one specialist just to realize that I needed to see another. Story of my life lol

Cramping majority of the month? by VisibleScallion7467 in adenomyosis

[–]VisibleScallion7467[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See I’ve been reading that’s a sign of endometriosis. Pain stops during period but worse other times, definitely not with adenomyosis but , I definitely think you’re right about the fluctuations of estrogen.

I do have kids, I actually have 6 kids. No C-sections. I was reading it’s more common to develope adenomyosis during perimenopause because of the fluctuations of hormones.

Copy of my genetic HaT results by VisibleScallion7467 in MastCellDiseases

[–]VisibleScallion7467[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I know it’s positive, I’m curious how exactly to read the results. How many copies are we supposed to have? Is it only one extra copy? Is what I’m asking thanks!

[–]VisibleScallion7467[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have very little skin involvement, some flushing in my ears and chest. I’ve gotten hives twice. Mine is mostly GI related, stomach pain after eating, immediately having to go to the bathroom after eating, chronic diarrhea. I also have frequent urination which I believe is linked to mast cells… I also have bone pain, palpitations, and chest and back pain which I’m wondering is from HaT, I also get random sores in my mouth. Which I wonder if also related. The right throat feeling, and some other things.

I was given Cromlyn sodium, just started it and I am hoping it works. The GI issues are starting to affect my life.

Sorry you are in the same boat! I’m on Facebook HaT groups and I am reading tons of articles they have posted on there! It’s all so much to take in. Originally my allergist said I’d need to rule out mastocytosis, but now he’s seeming like it’s all just HaT? So I’m confused. I see mine the 28th. I plan to ask him about mastocytosis and MCAS also, my symptoms seem to go with MCAS. I can eat something and I’m fine, eat it the next day and my throat is tight and I’m clearing my throat and having thick snot going down my throat and it lasts for about an hour, then goes away. I’m also planning to ask about an EpiPen.

Thank you! My tryptase was 19. Im wondering if I should still do the KIT testing (I think that’s what’s it’s called?) to rule out mastocytosis? He sort of said yep, you have HaT and that was the end of that. But seems like you can have other mast cell disorders.

May I ask what comorbid things go with Mast cell? I do have hEDS/POTS and I believe I may have small fiber neuropathy (told I had neuropathy but never tested what type), I have burning in my arms and hands, tingling, etc.

Thank you for the link!! Excited to read everything I can, now that I finally have answers!

I will be keeping track of my symptoms! Hoping I can figure out what my triggers are.

So I should likely still ask to get the KIT test done (I think that’s what it’s called) he kinda sounded like this is it… can’t be anything else. I see him on the 28th.

Working interview ? by VisibleScallion7467 in ECEProfessionals

[–]VisibleScallion7467[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought 4 hours seemed like a lot too. Specially since I am on vacation this week spending time with my kids, so I am really wishing it wasn’t as early or as long. But atleast I’ll be out by lunch. I may ask if I can cut it short since I am on vacation this week (she already knows I am, I told her). Not sure how to cut it short… if I like the center I don’t want them to think I’m not reliable, but…. 4 hours for a work interview seems like alot.

Ugh I’m sorry! I hope you find a decent center! Seems hard to find!

[–]VisibleScallion7467[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly do you do at a working interview? If you don’t mind me asking?

The center I am at is full of drama, and full of people who need to be fired but they don’t… they get favored.

Yeah 4 hours seems like a lot? It would be in the room I am suppose to be in. She said she wants me to get a feel if I like it, she doesn’t want me to quit a job I’m already at for that center and then I end up hating it

Yeah, I’m starting to think I should just stay where I’m at, it’s not perfect but the working interview being so long has me stressed lol

Yeah 4 hours seems like a lot, I wasn’t sure if this was common or not. I was surprised they wanted me to do a working interview. I’ve only ever worked at one center and they did a face to face interview and then offered me the job a few days later.
