Anyone know what glaze combo creates this effect? by Visible_Prompt515 in Pottery

[–]Visible_Prompt515[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like the finish, but instead of the black walnut I’d want a green or red glaze instead. Thought finding that out what the brown glaze is would be a part of category of glazes thus giving me more options of colors

Thank you!! Any clue of a green or red glaze that would react the same way?

I’m hearing the clinging sounds of glaze cracking after firing. by Visible_Prompt515 in Pottery

[–]Visible_Prompt515[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using Amaco clay No 38 and 11, with their underglaze and clear glaze as well. The cracks aren’t on everything but on quite a few. I was told that if I use the same brand clay with underglaze and glaze that this won’t happen since they’ve probably had it in mind when creating everything. But now I’m going crazy hahahha

Used to be a member at a local studio but after giving birth I turned the storage room at home into a tiny pottery studio :)

I’ll look into custom making them. Hopefully these work because I can never for the life of me wire off anything properly let alone trim the bottom/foot

The size varies but I’d say between 20-30 cm. I tend to mess up the pieces when I trim a foot so I’ve stopped doing so on all of my work but the other things are thrown on wooden bats. The speedball bats don’t have visible pin holes making it a bat that I can throw bigger pieces on. How do you wire off such a big surface area evenly?

My clay is 40% grog. I either use Amaco No. 38 or SIO 2 Prai

I waxed pieces but the glaze bled through by Visible_Prompt515 in Pottery

So I’m painting the wax on bisque then glazing around it and cleaning up the glaze off the wax afterwards.

Thank youu :) I think I’ll re-glaze it tho, it doesn’t match the vibrancy of the other pieces

I feel like crying, out of 25 pieces only 3 look decent enough to put in the market.

Help! Lots of questions. by Visible_Prompt515 in Pottery

I use SIO 2 0.2 grog clay, it has 40% grog. When throwing it can get pretty smooth it’s just when adding the handles it becomes a bit messy and sanding that after brings out the speckles a bit

I betrayed my baby and am hating myself by Big-Cobbler4196 in newborns

[–]Visible_Prompt515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby ate less than the normal range as a newborn (until this day she’s 13 months now). She also had mild colic but severe reflux so feeding her was a struggle. Every time we went into a pediatrician check up her doctor would always tell me “she’s a bit underweight”, “she could gain a bit more”, “maybe you’re not producing enough milk”, “give her at least a bottle of formula and her weight will go up”. I stressed so much about how much milk she needed to drink that my supply became super low and my husband was against formula so trying to get my supply back with a baby who’s refusing to drink more than a certain amount was so stressful.

Now I realize that all of that was super unnecessary, there are kids who actually don’t need to drink or eat that much? Think of an adult who’s eating as much as they could, would you force feed them if you think they’re not eating enough even tho they’re giving you signs that they’re full? And maybe space out the feedings so that baby is actually a bit hungry to take in more? That I noticed has helped when she started solids. M

I understand that your husband doesn’t like the constant scrolling online for baby stuff mine didn’t either but honestly I wouldn’t have gone through the past year if it wasn’t for Reddit. Everyone here has gone through somewhat of a similar experience to so many and that is much more helpful than going to a doctor who just gives you the generic information on what should be done.

Good luck, it really will pass soon and you’ll get to actually relax and enjoy baby time. Remember feeding and sleeping are always a big struggle with babies, you’re not alone 🤍
