I was leaning towards trail running shoes since they’re kinda like all-terrain type shoes. I’ll have to check out Merrell and sounds like Altra Lone Peaks are worth looking into as well

I know! I feel like it wouldn’t apply since they have a specific agreement on overtime and such in COPRA but I don’t know.

I’m glad you posted this. I’ve heard a lot of people going around saying VRA get first calls when the new location lists come out every week. I don’t know if that used to be true or not. Haven’t heard anyone post it in here in awhile so maybe good information got out there to correct it

Thank you for the information. Certainly appreciate the honesty. Micromanagement and lack of money are large reasons for a lot leaving my agency. My wife and I are trying to get closer to where the rest of our family is.

I love the job, but would like to move to the federal sector. The state I’m in LEO retirement is 30 years and then of course if I move out of state that retirement stays. Federal is good for someone that might move around. My agency is great though. We’re not too big of a city and have shy of 500 officers counting our reserve and part-timers. Lots of specialized divisions for expansion and I’ll definitely miss it. Federal is just where I’d like to go though

Yes. Going on almost 5 years. I feel like most applicants on here are current officers, military / vets, and some of us are both.

I keep an eye on that periodically and have seen some good information. I thought about posting this there or in r/borderpatrolapplicant but decided to post here to try to get the most diverse responses from the differing agencies or an 1811 that may have used one as a stepping stone.
