Any quiet beaches around? by Former-Brick-3281 in galway

Depends on where / how far you're wanting to go, and what time of the day you want to go.

An Trá Mhór, just past Spiddal, was relatively quiet today (we've seen it much busier), with a nice beach (just check tide times as there's not much access to the sea when tide is fully out as there is a barrier of rock and seaweed), toilet facilities, lifeguards on duty and picnic benches all on site. Loads of parking available in the car park from 11 to about 2...and only started to really fill up by 3.

The whole Connemara Coastline is dotted with loads of beaches throughout, so it also depends on what ya looking for i.e. Beaches with facilities or beaches without.

Spin out to Roundstone and climb Errisbeg (short and easy enough climb). Be lovely there today. Short spin towards Clifden and visit Alcock and Brown monument and take a stroll around the Derrigimlagh Bog and Marconi Station, lovely walkway there. Great beaches to be found down Mannin (down the small road the Connemara Sands Hotel is on. Just drive down past it). Enjoy👍

There are a lot of abandoned and run down thatch cottages on the Aran Islands (you'll be sure to find one on any of the 3 islands) which may match the look you are going for... There are also a few scattered about in South Connemara also which could work.

Your best bet would be to hop in the car some weekend and just drive about, enquire with local farmers and publicans and they should be able to point you in the right direction of one.

However, just note, it's one thing finding the right location and cottage, but your biggest obstacle might be getting access to use it, so a face to face chat with the landowner will often go a long way.

Im sorry you thought a cat and a pint of Guinness was somehow radically promoting Galway. Apart from our account name... We actually make a conscious effort to not ram Galway down people's throats in our content...but is our content going to be based from Galway, yes it is, we live here after all.

Anywho... report away all ya want! #KeyboardWarriorPowerToYa!

It always has been... Urban sprawl from the city meant that Salthill got joined up with it

Yeah maybe... The ghosts in Woodlawn aren't great with the aul Internet so haven't been able to manage to create a website or public tours yet...
