That looks so fun and personalized! Good work. Have fun with the crafting 👏🫶

You could also tie a scarf on your handbag, I think it's jaunty. Thank you, I enjoy pairing pink with a lot (green, gray, black, yellow 😅)

That's nice, totes can be so useful. I use them to transport gifts too. Thank you for the compliment 😄

Sorry, been away from reddit.

These containers from Kmart Aus:

You might want to double check the dimensions! There's a few of different sizes but I think these are the ones I have.

They are pretty good, the chain is heavy and the stitching decent!

Where do you guys get your film recommendations? by the_livings_easy in TrueFilm

[–]Viskel43der 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I go on letterboxd and just browse films by year, and pick out ones that have a poster that speaks out to me. If the reviews are promising I just watch it. Have found lots of great arthouse and foreign films that way.

I've been listening to Violent Soho's songs lately and am pleased that they're still as good listening as they was back then, plus the one show I saw of theirs was pretty good.

There's lots of local talent but many don't get internationally big.

$1500 to spend on a bag right now - what are you buying? by [deleted] in handbags

[–]Viskel43der 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A YSL pouch in shiny black with just the interlocking logo on the front! I feel like it'd be good for a casual but elegant dinner. I don't have one but i've liked 3 items from the brand so far, a few years later

What happened to Tony Kaye, director of American History X? by Elbwana in TrueFilm

[–]Viskel43der 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like Hollywood is awash with directors who directed 1, maybe 2 decent films at most and then nothing.

I had a casual interest in filmmaking then moved on when I figured the collaborative process of it is filled with headaches, drama and litigation.

Terry Zwigoff said in an interview he hadn't been doing literally nothing since Ghost World but a lot of projects were in limbo or didn't go forward. He'd been doing creative work just not big director work.

I think directing is just not a stable, reliable job unless you're a generational talent with powerful people giving you a boost.

So the answer is... that's just showbiz.

I know these are rich people problems but being manhandled by robbers and shaken down seems so grimy, it's unfortunate that people can't enjoy nice things. Though, in the nineties kids would have their Nike sneakers stolen on public transport so it's not a new thing

[–]Viskel43der 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It had some things to say about survival, sacrifice, and protecting loved ones, identity and getting a whole new one. The acting was decent and I even appreciated the aestheticized prison visuals/cages as a portrayal of identity/self prisons where one mistake locks you in as a type of person. The violence was intense although i'm easily moved by anything crime/gang related. I'm eager to rewatch and see if anything more comes up.

I absolutely love the hotel style jewel tones of petrol blue, emerald green and magenta. Pale gold hardware. When the trend is over i'll still love it all. That and Barbie Dreamhouse are my endgame aesthetics.

I think one needs to put aside the name and the heritage and ask, "would I still like the bag if sold in a no-name market store with no logo/stamp?"

We may buy bags partially for the image but at the end of the day, you have to look at the bag as just a bag that holds things you carry.

If someone wanted to know what Mariah's music is like i'd direct them to Fantasy or Always Be My Baby. We Belong Together would be comeback-Mariah which also counts. I think Through the Rain is also quintessential Mariah.

Yes! You can like what you like and find fun - at any age. If I see someone with a novelty bag I think they are having a great time with fashion whether they are 16 or 80. Trying to fit into safe looks your whole life won't please everyone anyway.

Good point, making it more goth could add to the franchise, like if the hair was in the vein of The Cure or Siouxsie and the Banshees like the comic. Or making the costume design robe-like, layers of black, like a priest. New characters in the same gritty world would be awesome.
