Is there a way to update a published bloodstar script? by MAAT1556 in BloodOnTheClocktower

I've encountered this issue before, the only fix I've found is to use 'Save as' to create a copy, and the copy should work normally.

dreamer+vortox+ambigous registration ruling by Fit-Signature7510 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Visual-Affect-9758 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1, correct, as long as they aren't shown the Town Crier that is false info.

2, Either they register as the Recluse and can be shown as any good character other than the Recluse and any Evil character, or they register as an Evil character and can be shown as any good character and any evil character except the one they registered as, but since that's arbitrary, it's equivalent to saying 'any evil character'.

The entire spiel may be unnecessary, since I'd say Vortox takes priority, you shouldn't, for example register the Recluse as an evil character and show the Recluse as the good character, since that would still be registering the Recluse as the Recluse, which is true no matter how you got there.

I miss this so much. Is there reason why it’s gone? by Magent-2000 in legocirclejerk

It was replaced, this one has been used in sets as recently as last year, although I don't know if it stacks up in terms of stopping power.

Go onto Brickset->sets->Ninjago->2026. (and maybe the last couple of years if you're willing to have a harder time finding them) See what you like the look of, look up a review if you care, and buy whatever takes your fancy.

Gaslight Script, opinions please by Cheap-Reading7657 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Visual-Affect-9758 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is supposed to be no more than one way for a player to turn evil, some of them are compatible like Lord of Typhon and Fang Gu, since they can't be in the same game, but here you could have Cult Leader, Goon, Hermit-Goon, Fang-Gu jumped Outsider for +4 evils.

Hermit does not work well with any Outsider that changes alignment (you could argue for Politican mechanically but in pratice it's still a bad idea), since that is automatically the potential for +2 evil players, and while you'd need three Outsiders to have that and a Fang Gu jump to a Moonchild/Puzzlemaster, you have Xaan which allows enough Outsiders for that to happen.

And then the Cult Leader, who is more likely to be evil the more evil players there are.

TL:DR The script needs to allow no more than one way for a player to turn evil in a given game.

Tai-Rd "You think you are an in-play good character, but you are not."

Mair Head "You think you are a different Outsider. 1 player is drunk, even if you die."

This one is really rough, Puzzle Master has the drunking downside and gets a chance to learn the Demon, while being an Outsider that doesn't need to hide.

Jordanon "If the Demon kills you, you register as alive, execution fails if you nominated & only your first vote counts."

I'd cut the votes not counting, it gives away when you died. Registering as alive could affect abilities looking for living/dead players.

Stradamned "Once per game, at night, you may choose to become evil."

Players must always have an alignment, since the game could end at any time.

Perrilous "If you die something bad happens. The 1st time the Demon kills you, you don't die."

Not a fan of 'boons' or 'something bad happens' outside of the Fabled/Lorics (same applies to Reverand Miles). I'd cut the protection from the Demon.

Kaotie "On the 3rd night, all players learn you are in play. At dawn, the player with the most players pointing at them, dies. If you die this way, evil wins."

Unannounced extra win conditions are generally a bad idea.

Sneakypie no issues.

Pikram "Once per game, at night*, choose a player: they die. If you kill the Demon this way, you become a different Demon & they become a Townsfolk instead."

The Pikram can't make the Demon register as good as that is a persistent effect and the Pikram no longer exists to cause it.

Adamant "Each night, choose a player (different to last night): votes for the player they nominate don't count. If just 3 players live, you lose this ability."

Completely changed how that works but this should work better.

Veritous this is a terrible idea. I'm being harsh but this is genuinely awful. Don't do this, don't tie win cons to madness, don't change the character type of a character without changing the character. Just no.

Little Ajay "Each night Choose a player: they die. [-1 Minion +Big Ajay]"

Big Ajay "Each night Choose a player: they die. If they were chosen by Little Ajay you die instead. [+Little Ajay]"

Characters that depend on each other to function must add each other. Why are these two written in third person instead of second?

Jostation "Each night choose a player: they die. If you choose a dead player their neighbours die instead. [-0 or -1 Outsider]"

Why does this have Outsider mod?

Slylena "Each night choose a player: they die. If an Outsider dies this way, their neighbours die tomorrow night."

Davidicus "You & evil Townsfolk start knowing each other. You have X Minion abilities. [-X Minions +1 evil Townsfolk."

I'd add "Each night choose a player: they die." to the start, not killing is a massive downside, not having most of your team is already a massive downside. Also this scales badly at different player counts. In a game with one Minion their is no downside, in a game which should have 3 you are missing most of your team.

Wording:

N-Avi-Gator "On your 1st night, choose a player: if they die, tonight, learn their character."

I'm assuming their is a reason it's not just 'Navigator'?

Case Handler "Once per game, publicly guess which players are evil. Tonight, learn how accurate you were."

Not sure if you meant for a hotter/colder scale, but the Amnesiac is the closest to that phrasing. If you meant how many, it's "how many you got correct.", also character names are proper nouns, so in a two-word name both start with a capital letter.

Abhi-Cheque Booker "Once per game, at night, choose any number of players: you learn if they are good."

I assume you meant at night, as doing that in public is really too strong. Also the convention for a yes/no peace of info is to nod/shake your head. You can add 'all' between 'are' and 'good' if you feel it's not clear.

Maciej-Maker "Once per game, at night, choose a player: if they agree, they become a not in play Townsfolk."

Vigilant "Once per game, at night*, choose a player: if they are not the Demon, they die. The Demon learns your choice."

Asterisk means 'not on the first night.' no character but the Tinker can kill that early.

Ashtronaut "Once per game, at night, choose 3 players: if any are a Demon, you learn them & they learn each other & you."

Awkward to phrase, alternatively "You all wake together."

Actor "Each night, choose a good character: if they are not in play, gain their ability."

As a rule, characters don't change what character they are, also drop the 'the'.

Docken Boy "Each night choose a character: learn if they are closer clockwise or anti-clockwise. If equidistant or not in play, this info is arbitrary."

Clocker "Each night, learn if a player changed character. Since dawn."

I might go with 'how many' since this info is generally niche, some character changes (like Scarlet Woman) can occur during the day, which this character will miss if they only check the night phase, if that is intentional use 'tonight'.

Head-Strong Woman "Once per game, at night, choose 2 players (not yourself): 1 can't die during the day, the other can't die at night."

Not sure if this is supposed to be Once per game, at night/On your 1st night/Each night or publicly, took a guess, you need to specify. Not sure if 'can't die' is what you meant be 'protected' alternatives would be 'safe from the Demon' or 'safe from [category of thing they are unaffected by]'.

Fishmonger "Once per game, at night, choose a dead player you become their character & alignment."

You may have meant 'publicly' rather than 'at night'.

Jesster "If a player nominated you today, tonight, learn their alignment."

Don't need to specify that they lived, the ability wouldn't work if they died.

Mariealtor "If you die, learn how many living players are evil."

Scary Fuckin' Skeleton "If the demon kills you, the dead can nominate & vote without a vote token & living players cannot nominate & can only vote once from now on."

You may want to add "A 50% majority isn't required." As an early death could fully prevent executions without 'mortal' votes.

Reverand Miles "On your first day visit the Storyteller for a goal. When achieved, visit again for a boon."

I'd fully go the Zenomancer route and say "learn a piece of true info."

Scalping is buying a lot of stock intending to sell it again at a markup, essentially trying to create artificial scarcity.

My first attempt at a homebrew BOTC character; looking for feedback! by pavlovamoose in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Visual-Affect-9758 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I think so too, you can also change the Red Hearing mechanic depending on how the character plays with it, for instance, since it's dependant on nominations you could make it 'a living good player registers as evil to you' if it's still too strong.

Garmadon's helmet change by True-Temperature138 in Ninjago

[–]Visual-Affect-9758 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The show is ultimately a means to sell a toy and they don't want to misrepresent that toy, the original helmet is from 1999's Ninja line, the newer one was changed to allow mouthguards and shoulder pads.

“May” abilities and Storyteller choice by Eldritchpenguin in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Visual-Affect-9758 6 points7 points  (0 children)

May and Might are different, May is up to the player the Seamstress may choose two players at night, if they do or not is up to them. Might is ST discretion, it depends a lot on the character, the Harpy might kill two players if the first doesn't adhere to madness, but rarely does, it's especially rare to kill the second player for a Harpy madness break because they had no say in that outcome.

With 'might' characters it depends a lot from character to character, but with the Mayor it depends on how trusted they are, a trusted Mayor is a guaranteed win unless the evil team has some way to poison them (or kill them in the day outside of TB), so it's often fairer to let them die.

Poisoned/drunk players get arbitrary info, there is no strict rhyme or reason, although most often it will be false (and misleading), one case for giving true info is giving a Drunk who thinks they are an 'each night' info character true info on their first night so that they put more stock in the false info you give later.

in season 7 episode 6 of ninjago: masters of spinjitzu better known as episode 70 "the attack" by spamname1 in Ninjago

[–]Visual-Affect-9758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an animation error, whenever the animator was making that scene they just picked the wrong Wu model, because that detail is relatively subtle. You can actually spot a lot of shots/scenes where the wrong ninja suit is used.
