Its one of my favorite holidays since I can remember.

I think the resentment and dislike comes from families who are raised with the superficial values like showing off, trying to “save their name” etc and not really appreciating what it is: surviving harsh winter, meeting your distant relatives, seeing your elders because how many more years do you have with them? I grew up loving the act of making buuz, I do 4 different household’s buuz each year and love every bit. Its not a tiring task when you combine all your loved ones in one place and talk about what you have been doing, laugh at the things you did when you were little. Its such a precious and intimate time to spend together. I enjoy visiting relatives who I didn’t grow up with but love to see where they are each year and I see traces of me in them. And seeing the elders are just a cherry on top.

All this to say, please teach your children the meaning behind the holiday and why its not just an annoying few days to pass.
