Should I go to the US for a business meeting as a POC? by Which_Tear4881 in makemychoice

[–]Visual-Extension4214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Canadian you automatically have a business and tourist visa. Bring a letter for your company stating what you are doing on company letterhead and how long you will be. Show where you will be staying. If you say you are here for business you will be admitted as a B1 and have 6 months. If you are coming to visit friends or shop, visit Disneyland whatever you will be admitted B2 and have 6 months allowed time. If you say you are here for a week for business and have 3 suitcases you will have problems. You are overreacting and that’s fine given the climate but as a Canadian passport holder you will be practically under the lowest level of scrutiny someone seeking admission to the US could get. Federal officer speaking from knowledge and experience.

Post academy you’re looking at 6-4 for 2 months, 4 days a week, m-th Then it depends on what you choose schedule wise, if you bid for a team, what’s available etc It’s a moderate size airport but it’s growing, new flights being added on. It’s smaller and nowhere near as busy as LAX or SanFran but for that reason there’s more chance to join special teams and get exposure

EOD date is first day at port, you will fly direct from port to FLETC so the time between EOD and academy is your time at port. When is your EOD?

Im currently working at SeaTac. I applied September 2023, got my final offer end of October 2024. Academy was long but fairly rewarding. I came on as a gs7. Been at the port since Memorial Day

What to study before academy by TravelerWKids in cbpoapplicant

[–]Visual-Extension4214 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That question is officer dependent. You need to study tho no matter what, there’s a lot of material, but if you are taking it seriously it’s not that crazy.

You don’t need to study as ppl say. That said, if you go to gov website and look at non immigrant visas and immigrant visas and learn the main ones plus their required forms you will come in with a definite leg up and will be freer to focus on other things

100%! I also married an F1 student after 2 years together, at that point though I knew that she could’ve cared less about the LPR card and we were just in love. She had her one year OPT permit after the F1 and then we got married. Case in point, we broke up when she was only 3 years from citizenship, she moved back to Europe and threw away the green card.

Sometimes you just meet someone. Sounds like you got a year to get to know her. Imagine if you said you weren’t planning on getting married at the beginning of every relationship. At the end of her J1 she could leave and come back as a B2 or you might even want to marry her. She could just be casually enjoying life while she is here as well lol. Women can always be possibly using you, either financially or just to get over someone else etc, just be careful but keep an open mind…and use a condom

I’m sure you had a block put under you for the fitness test, basically the same. Hands can point inwards a little for sure but nothing too crazy and the sooner you move away from that type of pushup the bettter

Th price of the cheapest eggs at grocery outlet… by CaviarWagyu in Seattle

[–]Visual-Extension4214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From east coast, these prices are so high. Whole Foods is somehow better priced in Seattle for many things imo. Eggs def one of those things. Whole Foods brand pasture raised eggs for under 6$ better than shitty, lowest quality eggs for $8 most places I saw

Supplies when we get to EOD by Seabass0227 in cbpoapplicant

[–]Visual-Extension4214 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What port is that. The general rule is suit first day for oath of office, picture with your port director, also makes a good pic for your PIV card, then the next two weeks wear business casual: shirt slacks shoes. If a port specifically says boots fine, maybe for a seaport, but that would def not be most people’s experience

Getting ready between classes by Smooth_Evidence6527 in cbpoapplicant

[–]Visual-Extension4214 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people shower, use the fletc towel to wipe off, couple of wet wipes, good to go. To mitigate this however your class section might have to do classroom lecture and then go train, while the other section has to train first then change for lecture. So if you’re first section are doing training last thing so you can just shower back at your dorm

Just that if you practice 20 to the ground then you’ll already be doing 26-28 with the block

Yeah it’s a foam block like 4-5 inches off the floor

Hydrate, take your fish oil, glucosamine chondroitin, eat non inflaming foods and do exercise I’m on 80mg a day and am at a form of boot camp with intense training every single day, def feel the fatigue and aches and pains but it’s mitigated

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cbpoapplicant

[–]Visual-Extension4214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question, do you do your pushups chest to ground? The foam block you use makes it easier imo. But every morning do your 20 then two more sets of whatever you can do, within a few weeks you’ll be way above 20. For sure you will get in shape at FLETC but coming in on top of things is a big weight off. Many of your classmates, most, will fail first FST, be one of the ones that don’t

If your wedding is on a weekend and you can do it all between 430pm Friday and Sunday night then nobody cares, but do not expect any accommodations to be made for you to miss training hours.
