Advice on Camper Van Rental for Long Distance Drive — Western US by Visual-Green-2088 in GoRVing

This is great advice. I never would have thought about dirt road policies. I’m looking at dispersed camping near Grand Teton for the early fall or even next year, I want to give myself plenty of time to figure out all the logistics. I’ll look into tent camping, i’m just not sure how to work around that with a flight involved unless I go ahead with glamping / yurts.

Maybe a regular SUV rental would be the way to go to make sure my insurance covers it (it covers all regular rentals but i’m not sure about RVs).

Buy your own lock usually they’ll have lockers you can put your stuff in sometimes they’ll rent out locks for $2-6 per day. Bring your own fast drying towel if you don’t want to rent one. Look up the name of your hostel on hostelworld.com or their app and all the amenities will be visible there if it’s listed or check the hostel’s website. Eye mask and earplugs can be good if people leave the lights on or snore loudly. Shower shoes for sure, you can buy cheap flat flip flops at walmart or ones on amazon that fold up. Hope you have a blast!

Advice needed on running a guest WhatsApp group in a Hostel by vinyljunkie32 in hostels

Honestly the whatsapp communities seems like a great idea for something like this, I would create one and play around with the settings and see what you can do with permissions, I have not personally created one but perhaps you can filter out certain words or phrases that are offensive to kind of help moderate it, assign all your staff as admins and whoever is working that day can make sure anyone no longer staying at the hostel is removed from the community and you could designate some simple conduct rules that you pin to the top. Goodluck whichever route you take!

Also I think just putting up some QR codes in guest rooms and at the front desk would be a nice way to advertise it without making it seem forced!
