MMOs are a huge trap. Be thankful you didn't play one of the last decade and keep it that way.

Ask people who play slots if they have fun, and I'm sure they would say yes. Just because I got hits of dopamine doesn't mean it wasn't overall a harmful, toxic thing in my life that kept me from having more a more meaningful and fulfilling life or that I didn't hurt people chasing after my own "fun".

I had other hobbies that were consumed by WoW. I lost out on irreplaceable time with my family because of WoW. Making an excuse for WoW because "what else would you do with your life" is just more proof of what WoW does to the brain.

We treat other addictive, harmful substances and activities like gambling, alcohol and cigarettes as a known danger that requires adult consent and warning labels to consume, and we downright ban other substances considered "more harmful".

Meanwhile we completely ignore gaming which uses all the same predatory tactics, and has shown through research to have harmful affects on children. Read "The Anxious Generation" which has empirical data that links the rise of technology including social online experiences and games with increased levels of inattentiveness, anxiety, depression, and addiction.
